be handled with snow or water you do have to say that they do have simularities.In the movie you see a reasonable amount of InuTaisho in his dog mode.1.InuTaisho.Now if YOU had a better shot then you know what Im talking about because I got this from a IYMV.Okay, if you look at his tail it's all curly(unlike Sesshomaru's),and i'll go ahead and say it the hair/fur is white!(now that's proof right there!)

Yes, Inuyasha's ears are pointy like an akita's. But what's with Sesshomaru's ears being all long and floppy?

His tail is lacking some curliness, too. Makes me wonder what kind of demon his mom was.

They mean Sesshomaru's mother. Sess's demon character design is based off of a type of dog found in Japan with long ears and tail; side note, though, that Sess is MUCH bigger than the real dogs are, muscle-proportions wise.

Inu-Yasha is a Shiba-Inu. They're more common in Japan, and generally have as bad a demeanor as he (plus, they're white). They also have a tail that curls straight up and almost into a circle.

So is it possible Sesshomaru's mom was this other kind of dog, making him kinda half and half, too? Do you know what the name of this kind of dog is?

Oh, and I heard Inuyasha and his dad are akitas, related to shibas but larger.

I have noticed that Inuyasha is white and Sesshomaru is grey-ish, I never really put anymore thought into it than he was a full demon and they just wanted them to look different. Except maybe that white is a "pure" color (aura/chakra/chi-wise), since Inuyasha is the "good" brother and is kind at heart he would be whiter than Sesshy who may have a clouded chi because of his malicious heart. I never knew that they were based on real dogs, thats pretty cool actually.

Actually InuYasha's is grey-ish,Sesshomaru's is bulesilver-ish,but I think your right about that 'chi' thing.And you should remember that this is Rumiko Takahashi! so you know that there's got to be a twist in things.example:If you pay attension enough you'll see that people's name actually fits their occupationon to the show see-Inuyasha:(Female)Dog Demon,Sesshomaru:Killing Perfection,Totosai:Sword purification,Onigumo:Spider Demon.And then she does put alittle Japan history,tradions,present day life,real people that lived that long ago,etc.

Well... Shiba Inu aren't always white...

and the tail is quite the same in Shibas and Akitas... more generally we can say that these dogs are similar and they both can have some variations in color and in physical appearance...
I mean that both can be white (but not always).. both can have a turning-into-circle tail and accorting to Inu Yasha lovely ears, they could be from both these two breeds!

And also for the demeanor, each breed has got its preconception, but dogs aren't all the same... for example Pit Bull is said to be "ferocious", whereas these dogs can be very affectionate!

So... it's difficult to decide which one of these two breeds Inuyasha and Sesshomaru are... we'd better ask Rumiko Takahashi...
Anyway.. it's nice to think of Inuyasha as a growling lovely dog ^.^

I think Akitas and Shibas are related, aren't they? I think they're both in the spitz family of dog breeds.

I wonder if Inuyasha could ever transform into a dog. Wouldn't that be cute!
