I was REALLY mad when i found out what 4Kids did to this show. First off, it's not supposed to be called "Mew Mew Power" like a corny kiddy show, it's called "Tokyo Mew Mew"!

They changed everyone's names..which makes no sense to me.. Poor Ichigo..now being called Zoe or something retarded like that.. ( i swear they know nothing about picking names.. > < ). Poor Retasu, Minto, Ryou, Keichi, Masaya, Zakuro, and any others i missed..

They didn't have to change much to put it on TV, and i found out alot of it was edited anyway..wtf!? I mean..the show was already rated TV8, what else is there to edit!?


I was already upset on how the Japanese chopped up the manga when making the anime, and when it hit American shores, it just got worse..

4Kids ruins so much anime it's not even funny... Pocket Monsters was okay at one point, and when they brought it to the US, it because a HUGE franchise and then fell just as hard..
I'll pray as hard as i can that they don't get Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch.. God knows what they'll do to ruin that.. Maybe rename Luchia (which is already an english name) to Sarah or something dumb like that..


My verdict:

4Kids TV = -infinity/10 (they need to get out of the business.. > < That's probably all they are..just four 6 year old kids..or four 50 year old idiots.. o_O)

Mew Mew Power = 2/10 ( at least they didn't just make a whole new anime up..then it really woulda been a "cartoon".. > > )

Tokyo Mew Mew anime = 7/10

Tokyo Mew Mew manga = 9.5/10

Tokyo Mew Mew A La Mode manga = 8.5/10

Yes, according to my sources, 4kids had the right to the first 26 episodes and has only aired 23 and it apparently has left again. And because I feel the need to express my opinion. I'm not trying to be mean or rude but come on.

Haven't you noticed that they try to stray away from the fact they are in Japan?

The only way the names would've worked would be if the people who watched it knew that the Mew Mew's names were the names of food. The younger audience who watches it would be confused because a)the names are sometimes weird and hard to pronounce and b)the whole joke of their names being food is lost on them anyway because I don't think a lot of 10-12 year olds know that Ichigo is Strawberry.

Obviously you've been to Mew Mew Power Uncensored. But if you noticed a lot of series got more than 75% right? That really isn't bad when you think about other shows that get way more hacked than this. Besides most it was just stupid changes and dialouge changes.

Haven't you noticed that they try to stray away from the fact they are in Japan?

I've only seen one ep of the dub, and so i didn't notice that. Their english voices annoy me half to death though.. (especially Kishu-kun's!) > < (don't get me wrong..i respect dubs, but this particular one didn't sound right to me...)

Then you'd look at people running around with food for names: "Hey Strawberry, you want some strawberries?" and etc.

Well I'm sure 4kids thought (and well so do I), it's kind of weird to call people by food. Especially Lettuce and Pudding. They might of well just kept it as Retasu, which is better than Lettuce.

I didn't say 4kids got it right all the time. I just meant that they aren't the ONLY ones who do. Maybe I'm being too nice, but there is a difference between American and Japanese television. If someone doesn't like the dub of something then they should just watch the sub and stop complaining that the dub sucks. I do my fair share of complaining (like Ryou's English VA), but some people a)can't get a hold of the sub so the dub is all they have and b)some people may not know there is a Japanese version and c)some people actually do like dubs no matter how badly they are edited.

When was that? Isn't that old news? I always said that TMM should have been an all or nothing deal. Either you take all 52 episodes or you don't get the show. I think it was stupid 4kids only got the first 26 episodes and since I have the sub I know that they haven't shown eps. 24,25, and 26. Because I believe 25 is the one with the fight on top of the Tokyo Tower. I don't think 4kids should've gotten it at all.
