You saw the other guy (Itsuki) in the first episode as the guy Mikuru was sent back to protect. He is introduced in episode 5, but the events that they talk about haven't been shown yet, although they are chronologically before this episode. According to sources, the series is 14 episodes long and Episode 1 (00) is possibly the last, or next to last, episode chronologically since it is the student movie they make for the school festival, so where it actually belongs is unknown. Episode 00 is probably the best numbering since technically, it isn't an episode unto itself, but part of a larger episode or series of episodes.
