In honor of it, I took pictures of my dog wit that hair ribbon and one of me looking like a true amateur cosplayer.

The Wired Knight wrote:Ok, Bandai could have done a better job of clarifying this but here you go

DVD 1: Episodes are 00, 1-3
These are chronological order, not Broadcast at all

DVD 2: Episodes are 4-7
AND Broadcast order 1-5 (whatever numbers those are)

STartint DVD two we will get the second disc containing the episodes in broadcast order, rather than getting it with DVD 1 so for those who want broadcast, dvd one is kind of a throwaway as of DVD 2 which will have the episodes in the broadcast order.

The rason I think BAndai did this is because if starting from the first disc you were to get broadcast and chronological you (in theory) could have the whole show by disc two, maybe three. Thus some people would stop buying the dvds alltogether because they would have all the episodes they need and sales would drop. By starting broadcast order on disc 2 they would be offsetting that and preventing you from having the whole show early.

I'd have to look and compare the orders though to see if the order backs up this theory.
The second DVD disc will only be included with the Special Edition version. The regular version is one disc only and chronological order (with the exception of the Mikuru episode). The broadcast order DVDs are only subtitled Japanese audio, so don't expect to hear the English dub soundtrack on them.

If you don't care about the order in which they playback and would rather not get the special editions, stick with the regular version.

If you want to have the broadcast version only and don't mind watching it with subtitles, get the special edition volumes 2, 3, and 4 since they contain the second DVD.

If you want to watch the series in broadcast order AND in English, get all the DVDs and then watch them in this order (using the DVD episode numbering with the Mikuru episode as no. 1):

1, 2, 3, 8, 4, 10, 9, 11, 14, 5, 13, 12, 6, 7.

Of course, the next episode previews won't be correct since the DVD versions have Yuki doing them instead of the duo of Haruhi and Kyon. The original previews with the original broadcast audio should be on the DVDs as extras, but I'm not sure if they are English dubbed since I haven't received my copy yet (can anyone verify this?). If they are, you could switch to the extras, play the appropriate preview, then go to the next episode.

It's Japanese only.

Darn. :(

I wanted to see (hear) how they'd dub the previews. They have some nice lines for the actors, especially for Kyon's part, albeit with the characters breaking the fourth wall (aka. meta-reference, as nearly all next episode previews do). Plus, they are plain fun to listen to and ultimately lead up to a joke in episode 12. :D

Somehow I thinkt he confusion of the order of the episodes on DVD is now officially within the spirit of the source material.

Just be glad they're on the DVD. They have two versions of two commercials announcing Haruhi's premiere. They also have four commercials announcing the DVD releases. Of course, these are the original Japanese ads(I'm guessing) with subs. To top it all off, it comes with The Adventures of the ASOS Brigade Episodes 00 and 01.

ASOS Brigade, episode 4.1!!!

http://one.revver.com/watch/310444

This episode has more short interviews, but this time it's with Johnny Yong Bosch (which I find it ridiculously amusing if you can figure out why  ) and Wendee Lee.

Hmm, there's even more Pizza Hut promotion.....
