This is from Bandai Entertainment's panel from Otakon!
Oh, this I need to hear! I always liked to hear the English VAs sing.It has also said that two songs in volume 4 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya will be sung by Wendee Lee, the English voice actress of the title character Haruhi.

Neat but wasn't the original plan to not dub the song? Still, hearing dub VAs sing is always an interesting thing.angelx03 wrote:This is from Bandai Entertainment's panel from Otakon!

I have a feeling that Plan A was to have the songs sung by the English actress, unless the person chosen for the role could not do it justice. Plan B (which was the likely course of action until the announcement) would have been to leave the songs in Japanese. I guess that the recording tests for Wendee Lee's renditions were good enough to set Plan A into motion.Kumatora wrote:Neat but wasn't the original plan to not dub the song? I'll probably listen to the English version of the concert (and the songs) at least once to see how she did. I've listened to Aya Hirano's God Knows and Lost My Music enough times that hearing them in English would probably take a lot of getting used to, regardless of how well done the performance is. (I have the same problem with the original Bubblegum Crisis series - to me, the songs sound weird in English after watching the subbed episodes and listening to the CDs many, many, many times.)
