While that would work, there are two reasons why it couldn't.
1. Since most people just remember him from his role in the Karate Kid series, not many people are familiar with anything else he's done and he might just come off as the token old Asian dude (well, at least that's how I see it).

2. The fact that he recently died doesn't help much.
