I wouldn't say that Lain is scary... At least not in her teddy-bear pyjamas. They've even made a nice UFO catcher doll of Lain in that outfit.

(Not much of an argument for cuteness admittedly, since there are such dolls of almost any character, even Asuka!

You have to admit that Lain taking drugs would explain quite a few of the things that seem to occur in the series.
