The forum description says this is for the organization, creation and discussion of MEPs. So, I'm going to discuss some MEP stuff. Briefly.
Has anyone here heard of Kaltura?
I got wind of it when it first came out, and have played with it a bit, and... It's pretty ingenious. It's basically a site promoting interactivity, and I couldn't really find a use for it until I thought about MEPs.
To me, Kaltura was pretty confusing. So even though it's pretty boring, I viewed the Tour of the site, and how to use Kaltura.
What it basically explains is that each person can upload some clips, and then each person can also edit these clips. But then, (If I understand correctly; I haven't used this site in a while) you can take the "completed" edited versions from other people, and edit those too.
I was wondering, how feasible do you think it would be to try and do/start a MEP using only this site?
Or perhaps, we could do something different, and upload MEP segments, and then let other people figure out how the final order of the MEP sequence should be?
Of course this thing has its limitations. Its video editing system looks like a slightly amped up Windows Movie Maker, and of course, editing online in general is just a little weird.
But, considering AMVs are (usually) mainly online-only thing anyway, I thought doing a MEP this way would breathe some fresh air into our tradition of things. It may even be fun.
Do you guys see a future in Kaltura for any type of AMV anything?

You've got to remember, however, that not only are AMV's an online experience, but are featured in contests in anime conventions, and other events.
The main problem with putting created MEP segments online, would be that (With what you say that people can edit them further) the clip might be altered in ways that the origional creator had not intended, therefore making it a useless effort.
Now, on the flipside, if people where to use this program to edit there videos and then upload it to the org, thats another thing, but allowing people to edit clips that you had the sole intended purpose of creating, would make me personally feel cheated.
But, it is a good idea, and if it where to end up becoming something big, I might even look at trying it out, but for now, I'll stick to my Vegas.
