Hey, everyone...
it's already mid-March, and the deadline (June 1) is coming up faster than I'd like it to. The total running time for this video (without closing credits) has yet to reach ten minutes. I'm worried that this year's video may be shorter than the first.
So far, the contributing producers number seven (including me). There are still a few of you who have yet to turn in a clip after making initially enthusiastic entry into this project. There are also a few lurkers out there who I wish would take the initiative and jump in with us.
*le sigh*
I'm going to try and recruit more help when I go to TekkoshoCon in four weeks.
Allow me to ask this: what would help motivate some of you to get (more) involved? Do you need a creative prompt of some kind?
Wait...I was going to do something to that effect a few weeks ago, no?
Anyway, here's an idea.
Commercial ads! They can be old or new; products or services; movie trailers or whatever. If you can make it funny, let's see you do your worst.
I think that's all I got for now...

Don't tease me like that! Those kinds of commercials make great soundtracks. Now I'm curious to see what you'd do with it...Ghet wrote: if iget bored i might do something with the orbit raspberry mint commerical... or some other one....

STATUS REPORT:
Although I have yet to hear from events staff about a definite day and time, the AMV Salad panel is a lock for TekkoshoCon.
Still pending are AMA, Anime Expo, and Otakon (although Mr. Westbrook seemed pretty positive already the Second Serving would find a prominent place among video programming - hopefully that translates to "fan parodies lead-in").
I threw all the clips I have from you all so far, including mine and the opening sequence, together in the editing program to estimate how much video we have. Currently, allowing for two minutes of closing credits (so far), the entire running time has almost reached eight minutes.
EIGHT MINUTES...
anyway, it's still pretty short. Even if we don't quite reach the 24-minute mark like last time, I see a substantial improvement over the first Salad in terms of humor.
But here's the bottom line: we have only two months left before we enter post-production. In the MEP world, that's not a lot of time but perhaps enough to recruit at least a few new producers from Tekko in about 11 days.
Keep the deadline of June 1 in mind but don't just throw any ol' thing together to fill space. I've had to shelf a few clips so far because of technical problems and simple lack of humor. Remember: you can't rush inspiration. Luckily, I have several new ideas but I don't want my material to dominate the project.
That's all for now...

RanMouri made a suggestion and I think it's time we made things a little more interesting around here.
I'm gonna throw a few challenges your way.
Let me give you two songs first:
(these are Megaupload links so they won't expire any time soon)
Valve: Still Alive
(lyrics)
Charlie Robison: Good Times
(lyrics
And the third challenge?
How about creating a clip with the audio from that Orbit gum commercial where those three people are calling each other names and talking nonsense ("What the french toast?"..."Pickle you, kumquat!").
AT LEAST one clip per challenge will be included on the final render.
If there are any other suggestions, email them to me. Otherwise, you have two weeks to submit for this challenge...

I know I'm late with the update from TekkoshoCon. I was sick from the Monday morning I got home until this past Tuesday night.
Anywho, the panel went okay. The only hitch was the video didn't output. I had to summon the tech gods to fix the problem, which took about ten minutes of waiting and another five or so to get things going.
Next stop seems to be Anime Mid Atlantic. I'm still awaiting confirmation from them as well as Anime Expo and Otakon (for the panel slot; the screening for the sequel is a go, albeit unscheduled).
One more month until post-production, everyone! We really need more clips!

Sorry for not submitting recently, but time's been scarce and, tech problems aside, I've been thoroughly uninspired. -.-*deuceloosely wrote:How about creating a clip with the audio from that Orbit gum commercial where those three people are calling each other names and talking nonsense ("What the french toast?"..."Pickle you, kumquat!").

The third challenge might work, if no one submitted an AMV, with clips from Ah! My Goddess, but I don't have the Orbit audio (or the logo). Do you know where I might find that? Limewire never properly downloaded for me.
Btw, sorry to hear about your tech problems, too.
