Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal
Ok, I really need to understand a quick question.
By "has somebody done it before" that moonbunny mentioned, does this include youtube videos as well, because a number of my ideas involving spongebob squarepants [Read:All of them] have been done, but at a lesser/boring/unprofessional/pixelated level. Am I pretty much screwed from doing anything involving these ideas? Because frankly, I don't think it's plagarism, we just happen to have a similar concept, and my editing would be completely different. :O
I'd like to know because ironically enough, it's something that's I've been tinkering with for a while now and was thinking of sending in to AMVHell5 [but disregarded it and decided against it], and this might have the motivation to make me actually finish it [in a more compressed fashion, of course]. But before I get started and really dedicate myself to it [and several others], I'd just like some clarification.
Oh, and WHAR IS AMVSALAD4? WANT NAO. XD

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal
If it's been done before but only on YouTube, feel free to improve on it and submit. I doubt seriously too many people will recognize it once the soundtrack is backed by anime. I think I said in the specs that plagiarism is a no-no here so no direct lifting )not that I'm really worried about it). Anyway, if you see an idea you like and think you can do it better, go right ahead. I just don't want every clip I receive to be Spongebob.
I'm still waiting for "large file" upload permission from the 'org. There's a Megavideo link posted if you just wanna watch until the download is ready...

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal
Ok then, that answers my question. Only one of them was about Spongebob, but it's kind of a recurring gag so it might get dropped, and I have one other small segment to do with it, but then I have other ideas as well. The big one I had a question about was regarding spongebob though, the others didn't seem to have anything close on youtube resembling them.
Ok then! Now I can get to work! Thanks for the clarification.

I've got a nice off-content clip brewing. Count me in again.
Might need to check my random-amv-thoughts-list for further stuff though..
Btw, do you want to keep this thing pg-13? .. stating 'depraved' in the OP.. but when I see that, I see hardcore hentai..

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal
I'd rather not go through a 10-hour censoring session again ^^
From speaking directly with Scott Melzer, here's his basic idea of PG13. We're allowed basically one 'fuck' and a few 'shits' and that's it. Otakudom showed at 2 PM on Saturday, widely accessible to younger viewers, and has exactly 7 shits and one fuck. He claims he missed the "FUCK YOO!!" clip I got from Captpan6 and we would have had to have censored it as well, but I'm going to speak with him about next year to holding all clips to Otakudom's standards, because he already kinda contradicted himself by showing Otakudom that early.
And since Babewatch was censored, things are getting odd. AMVS2 had the same exact Eiken footage and was totally fine, as did AMVHell 3.14, so we'll have to challenge Scott a bit to stop being afraid of what people will think. And I think somewhere in there is that Popotan 'touch myself' footage. Either way, we need to somehow convince him that nobody has complained for years about the language or content, he can't start randomly censoring things. Everyone has a good time, and being slightly uncomfortable by the footage is part of the impact.
The no porn rule is definitely in effect, but he claimed that there was actual nudity in the Eiken clip, when there is definitely no nudity in the Eiken clip. I know that for a fact.

I don't think that its right to give him a hard time about this. Its easy for you to say that he's too strict, but he's actually a lot more lenient than you think. And lets not forget that he's the one that will be in trouble if someone complains. I sympathize with him since I'm also in charge of a con's AMV programming. Everybody has rule that they have to follow. That includes Scott, and it should include us (the AMV creators) as well.Gaelstrom wrote:I'd rather not go through a 10-hour censoring session again ^^

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal
Keep it PG-13, kids and let's try to keep the profanity to a minimum. We had to "censor" the Sony POS clip for Otakon. Really the biggest thing is limiting the F-bombs.

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal
I've no intention of giving him a hard time, but something needs to be defined more. People are growing up over the years, not getting worse. If clips were there a mere year or two before and were totally fine, that needs to be addressed. Otakon never received any complaints about it from what I understand, so why the new policy regarding it? Sony POS makes a bit more sense since it gets pretty ridiculous, and was pretty much the only thing I could ever think of that would be worth using that would be that bad. The other stuff is stuff like One Piece to Coming to America.kireblue wrote: I don't think that its right to give him a hard time about this. But still, Scott's now in charge, so he needs to decide it Otakudom is the norm. If so, then cursing isn't an issue except in extreme cases.

I'm a fan of erring on the side of caution...it it seems questionable I tend to just change it or not do it as opposed to having it be a problem later.
