I'm not gonna worry about resolution for the first project (this will be a series), but later on I may add guidelines for resolution. As long as it's high-quality.
It might be a good ideal to go ahead and set a required resolution now.
If you don't, you could get anything from 320x240 and up
then you would have to resize some clips to be the same as others and that would effect the quality.
resizing a 320x240 video to 640x480 >_<
Also, you might wanna just accept
huffyuv/lagarith/uncompressed avi files.

will have some problems with wmv, mp4 and others
Fix'd and QFT.
Srsly. Without a standard resolution, you'll end up with some really low quality files, you'll have aspect ratio issues, and overall it can only do harm to the project. And distribution codecs (xvid, divx, wmv, mpeg-4, etc.) are hit and miss as far working in an editor goes. Unless you plan on running every clip through Vdub, which just sounds like a pain, if you ask me.
Yeah, that probably would just be a pain in the ass...
You're right. Standard resolution would be good. 640x480. Should I restrict it to 640x480, or would it be OK to have that or higher res? I can resize it easily enough, but it may make the 640x480 ones look worse if there are better resolution clips in there. As far as format, definitely uncompressed files only, but wmv and mp4 files should be OK with the editor I'm using (Sony Vegas Pro 8.0).
So here's what I have:

Uncompressed avi, wmv, mp4 format

Framerate of 29.970 (NTSC)

Resolution of 640x480 or higher(?)

I appreciate your help and suggestions.
