Yea, we're sort of waiting for the official word ourselves.
Speaking of which, have we settled on how we'll go about with the DVD? Is Bakadeshi getting his source from rose, or should we try to get somewhere with this?

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

HDD is back!!!
I gues miracles do happen. Turns out that it was just a problem with the video card.
Rose, is it to late to get you a HQ version? If not, what format would you like?
Bakadeshi, I'll look back through this thread for the last settings you posted, compress it to mpeg and send it to Kalium.
This will all have to be done via my brother over the phone, but hopefully it will work.

Amazing how those things seem to screw each other up in such remarkable ways...pen-pen2002 wrote:HDD is back!!!

Anyhow, better an incompatability problem than broken hardware.
I think I have the HQ version of yours, since what I have is a VOB that appears to be first generation (must be that bait-and-switch technique, maybe it lets you avoid re-rendering anything that isn't composited or cut off of a keyframe). It's also perfectly valid NTSC, in anamorphic form, you're really already covered.pen-pen2002 wrote: Rose, is it to late to get you a HQ version? If not, what format would you like?

As to everything else...
I've been swamped over here by my SE project. Not because the project itself is terribly complex, but rather because I've found myself carrying most of the team's workload. After a big initial setback caused by my own miscalculation of my team's level of experience and programming skill, I find that I've been stuck with trying to bring development back on schedule. In part, this is because I'm the most experienced developer (though, ironically, the one with the worst grades - if only I was as good a student as I am an employee ). In part, this is because I'm only one of two members who seem to have any enthusiasm toward the development process, and the only one who seems to have any sense of professionalism regarding the quality and presentation of my work.
It's strange, because at the time I was filling out the forms used to select the teams and to give indication as to what role each of us should fill, I listed myself as relatively inexperienced with most of the technologies/techniques listed. In retrospect, it seems three years of programming in a corporate environment amount to a hell of a lot more than a year and a half at a university. I've also noticed that I've made a lot of assumptions about what each of us should be familiar with based on my experience with seasoned professionals, rather than other students. Stupid me. Well, as long as I've learned something...
So now I've somewhat accidentally staged a coup over my development team, and have been putting in some crazy hours trying to cover lost ground. Now that Release 2 has come to an end, I've had a chance to breathe (and get some proper sleep for the first time in about a week), but I'm afraid I've more than I can handle right now with the final release coming up and my other classes to catch up in.
Soooo....

Good News: The DV thing works. I've tested it (a while ago, now, so I might have already mentioned this) with some smaller joined files (a couple of videos and a narrative section), and both the audio and video play back fine from the end result (an XviD .avi encoded off of the DV file) in both Windows and Linux.
Bad News: I can't work on this any time in the next couple of weeks. Then I'll be on vacation and can re-render the narratives at the higher resolution and finish the end credits (which have been scripted, but not rendered). Then I'll finally be ready to compile a "fully compatable" version of the project.
Sad thing is that there's only about 10 hours of work left - but it's 10 hours I don't have right now.
may seeds of dreams fall from my hands -
and by yours be pressed into the ground.
and by yours be pressed into the ground.

I would think I need to submit a DV file of mine, since the original and only one I sent was a small 512x288 huffy. Since the 720x480 direct from the DVD is letterboxed to begin with, do I need to crop it so it's anamorphic (all 720x480 used for the anime, right?) I made a picture with an A or B option. (Note: the image is blocky because of very low compression for the jpeg, the video is as clear as I could get it from pre-Renewal footage)
All I need to know is which way to encode it. *EDIT* About the 29.97 fps, to get that I need to insert pulldown, right? Vegas gives me the choices of 1)29.970 (NTSC), 2)23.976 (inserting 2-3 pulldown), 3)23.976 (inserting 2-3-3-2 pulldown). So which one? Not 1 I would assume. Another question if I may. Should the audio be set at 44,100 Hz or 48,000 Hz? The music was from a CD to begin with. One last thing, what if Vegas' DV file is proprietary in some stupid way, it is in the .avi container. If it is borked, what are free DV encoding possibilities?
Additionally, I'm ready to submit my MPEG2 file at any time.
I love having so many questions to bombard you guys/gals with ^_^!
