Re: AMV Salad 4: TV Dinner (FINAL WEEK!!!)

I'll work on the finals and send them using some kind of online file transfer system to you. Be sure to monitor your e-mail. They'll unfortunately have to be DV like last year, sorry. It's still the only way I've found to get the best quality and also avoid that stupid AfterEffects audio shift bug. I still plan to go ahead and work on another couple clips, and with your permission I'll move ahead on the longer one. I'm finding my free time diminishing for the next week and a half, so I have to finalize which ones I want. I'm gonna shoot for the longer one.

Once I figure out how to deinterlace the footage from this stupid ripped DVD, the second musical one will be done very fast as well.

I'll get those to you soon, but be aware I'm gonna be trying to make clips until we're down to the wire.

I'll get the 6 completed clips I have thus far to you tomorrow, hopefully at the latest by Friday.

Edit: (Actually make that 7 clips currently, I really quickly made a higher res version of that other clip I mentioned a while ago that I requested permission for us to use. I can't take credit for it at all of course, but I felt it was just too good not to have ^^ I'll be sending that as well.)

Yup yup...got 'em earlier. If it comes to this, I could fix the sync on the Birdman clip like I did with Attel last time. I'm getting a lot of LOLz out of the short clips, though.

I'll have a rough beta for you all to start with sometime next week, then we can tweak and change things from there...

Damn, is it shifting for you too when you put it in your editing software? I was afraid of that. We'll just have to see how it seems with the beta when you have it ready, we'll tweak it as need be once I see how it aligns. I really wish I knew why that happened, it's annoying on all ends :x All I can really suggest is to have the DV versions I sent opened while you edit the master and if they're obviously off to use the DVs as the source to shoot for and break apart the audio and video layers or however the program you're using does it. For most lipsyncs I aligned it nearly down to the frame, and some scenes I allowed a bit more leeway, so it won't be definite all the way through, but it's a difference of only 1 or 2 frames.

I'm getting in contact with the creator of that other clip to find out exactly how he wants to appear in the credits as well. I spent the 5 minutes to upres the footage, but I sure as hell don't deserve credit for it :D

I've made some improvements to my second submission, it still isn't perfect, but a lot better than it was.
The color changing between scenes was something in the anime, and I've tried to make it better, but it's very hard to do so.

Anyway, I've sent in another clip, which I think is pretty nice. It has a pretty high amount of violence and blood.. well let's say 100%.. But maybe it passes the PG13 standard :P
Let me know if you don't want it :)

Still waiting on KojiroShinkara to resend the fixed "Doctor Firefly."

Moonie: please check your clip labeled "surethiswillwinanoscar" and see if you left the render to be interlaced. Maybe it's my media player reacting but I see interlacing lines. Much appreciated.

Otherwise, I'm going to replace the "defective" clips with the ones you all sent which work better. I'll also re-watch the stream of clips to sort for flow. Then I need to find watermarks for Comedy Central, Fox, Food Network, HBO, NBC, PBS, and MTV. The "channel switch" transitions will be placed, the end credits created, and the production tags / other stuff placed within. It shall be awesome but I know the post-tweak will make it even better.

Please don't do the watermarks, Deuce. Please understand, it will only draw peoples' attention away from the clips themselves. The logos and such draw the eye away from the actual thing happening on the screen. If they were meant to be there as part of the parody, we would put them in ourselves. That is why many TV stations make it only happen coming from and/or going to commercials, because all it does is cause the cuts in their shows to become annoying. Plus they ruin color composition, remove the illusion of camera cuts clearing the mind of one shot for the next, and generally just don't do anything good to the whole illusion of watching something. There's no need to try to unify the clips besides a running gag amidst them, so please don't put in logos. It will not provide any benefit whatsoever to the project by doing that. I have asked several of my friends who have assisted me and all of them have agreed that it will only provide an unnecessary distraction, so please realize that it will harm the project and just let the funny clips speak for themselves.

I finally got After effects to cooperate with me and just finished my video. All I need to do now is the add some "write on" text to make it funny. (Although getting the "write on" effect to work is proving to be difficult as well.) I expect to have everything finished by tomorrow though.

I have a few more clips incoming so the beta release may be delayed until the weekend. I want everyone to have their work represented and included.

Just a few days left until I have to cut off submissions entirely...
