Fine I'll take all your guys words and close this mep and work on my skills...kikai_saigono wrote:(trying to help, not spam your thread, so listen up.)
i don't think somebody will have already done Naruto to that particular Green Day song. and if by some really odd chance it does happen, you can always think up new ideas. Maybe also think about in the meantime how you can improve on this particular idea.
Really, take things slow. Running a mep is harder than it looks. You need to have specs like framerate and whatnot. I ran a simple birthday mep that had only four other creators and it wore me out. Just learn the tricks of the trade. =]

Hate to throw a monkey wrench in things, but there were a number of comments in this thread that kind of irritated me.
Moral of the story: don't ever judge a program. The higher level ones may have more capabilities, but in the hands of an inexperienced editor, they're useless.
I don't like Naruto myself, but that was just an out and out false statement.
Seriously. All you need is hardware, software, media, and a group of editors to pull off a MEP. Hosting is convenient, but it doesn't even factor in.
On that note, I've noticed that the op decided to close the MEP. Long story short, quite berating people with ungrounded facts. You didn't need to bash his idea. You all could have simply reiterated that he was inexperienced yet, and his idea would surely still be waiting for him when he learned what he needed to.
Now, I'd appreciate it if you didn't all go ahead and start taking potshots at me. : /

The editor makes the video, not the fucking editing program. I'm getting incredibly sick of people making the assumption that WMM is a bad program. It is not. It just so happens that since it's free and available that many, many more editors use it. That, of course, leads to a higher percentage of them making bad videos, since newbies tend to be the ones using that program. Similarly, Premiere and the like are not good programs by nature alone. It is also the editor in this case that makes the video. Since several of them require a good deal of money for purchase, the tendency is for more experienced people to use the higher level programs. Therefore, you get less newbies and less bad videos.BTW- No windows movie maker or other editing program that is bad like WMM,

*insert Lex Luthor WRONG! here* Two words: Super Search. Clearly, this anime is very well liked for there to be so many videos on the site. And don't try to give me crap about the more experienced editors not liking it either, because I can give you three videos right off of the top of my head that were made by said people and that used Naruto.sorry but not too many people here like Naruto :/

Again, while I would not watch this video, please refer to the above paragraph for my reasoning on why it could still do very well. Granted, the use of one song may take away from the viewing audience, but I have seen plenty of single-song, shorter MEPs that were quite successful.plus it's Naruto, and just to be honest (completely honest) not as many people would watch it.
Oh, so this constitutes being able to head a MEP, eh? Why didn't you tell me before!? I would have stopped Project FMV ages ago!you still have no hosting,

A wise person once said...
=\Unlimited Rice wrote:If it's one thing I never liked, it was the addition of the Multi-Editor Project forums. From the start, I personally thought it was a bad idea. Sure, it edges on more MEPs because it's fun to be collaborating with other editors on one big project.
I guess in the end, it's more my problem than the AMVorg's. Before the MEP forums came up, I used to actually look forward to MEPs coming out because 1. They were so few, and 2. they were actually good.. Now MEPs are popping left and right, only 1 out of 10 are actually really good, 2 or 3 are average, and the rest are shit.
One song MEPs:
The only one I really looked forward to was the Children Project. Jeez, I remember it being so awesome, I still think so, too. It's alot better and well organized beyond 90% of the MEPs in the forums. Another example of a one song mep would be Alternate Dimensions(Can't wait for the 2nd one to come out )
Premixed MEPs:
Stuff like Reflections of Style have (for the most part) been extremely solid. It's been some of the best organized projects out there. Ayumix is also a very very excellent example of this, and the Final Fantasy VI Project is definitely something, even if it's not flashy.
AMV Hell type:
Now, the AMV Hell, 2, and 3,(I never saw 0) are all good, but I'm gonna clunk in like.. Christian Rock Project and stuff in here.. Basically, anything where people can just choose any song and anime they want and only edit to a portion(or whole) to a song are pretty much AMV Hell-types from what I can see. The only good ones I can think of in this category are.... obviously AMV Hell, 2, and 3. Christian Rock Project, DDR Projects, NES, RVG, and VG3. The rest are average and most are crap.
Band Mep:
You guys know what these are. MEPs with tracks to a certain band. Almost every single one is either shit or average. What really sucks, is that the best band MEP I've seen... never got finished... it was trashed... or in the "List of Known Projects" thread says, it's "In Limbo." That's right, I'm talking about the Linkin Park: Revolution project. As a personal preference, I liked it because it was premixed.. because no matter what people say about getting to pick your own part in the songs(because people would rather edit a certain part than others), I know the project overall would be better if there was a mix made before hand.
I mean, come on, it's very clear that if you take a band and make it into an MEP, that if you mix it yourself, the whole thing would meld together a lot lot better than if people were just choosing their own segments to the songs.
Anyways, back to the Linkin Park MEP. If that thing actually finished, it could've been one of the best MEPs out there. There were so many really really good tracks, and to name a few on the top of my head: Dacoolgohan, Niotex, Nostromo, and Superfusion all had really really freakin awesome tracks, and I thought it was a waste that this one had to drop because it would have definitely been up there with ROS in terms of sticking out.
An example of a good band mep that actually finished(that I can think of right now) was probably the Tool project, though I really only remember like the first few and last few tracks, those were really good.
Again, I gotta say, this is my own personal tick. I don't mind people making their own MEPs left and right, I just miss the days when most MEPs were actually fresh. Now I gotta deal with the trash and try to pick through to find the good ones.
