I like it the way it is. I vote to leave it alone.

Seconded. Every punchline needs a setup.

I could change the colors for the screen border and text for the opening sequence but I don't want to add anything more to it. Anything else thrown in would be a distraction from something else. For more examples of what I'm trying to do, they also transition shows in this fashion on USA, Spike-TV, FX, and VH1. I'm sure there are others.

I'm not sure how the text isn't aligned. It's left justification. Same specs for each instance of text in the sequence.

I did the Premiere Pro joke because there is always a good number of editors viewing this at conventions. I find them usually hanging around for the entirety of closing credits to see what material was used. Believe it or not, the casual AMV fan is the minority for these audiences. Sure, the editors we get may "see" whatever technical problems may exist but they come to be entertained. The AMV contest is where the editors scrutinize and pick apart the videos shown there. Not at the Salad panels. I'm not implying I'm taking it casually because of that. I want them to approach me after it's done and jump on board for the next one. Contests are competition; this is for fun. Let's all not lose sight of that. ;)

All right, we'll leave Fruits Wearhouse the way it is then.

I made something quickly in Photoshop to give you an idea of what I think could help the intro be more definitive.

http://rapidshare.com/files/249427272/I ... t.jpg.html

This was just whatever came to mind as I did it, but the intention is to give a clearer picture of what is happening on screen. If you like aspects of it but have other ideas what you'd like, just write some details of what you'd like and I'll have it done in a a little while for you, then you just fit the clip into the template and put a stroke on it (can vegas do that?).

As I rewatched the section, I realized that you were actually already doing a version of the ticker idea I had, but the information blended together which is why I never noticed. If you made maybe 6-8 different funny bits of info on the bottom and had them fade out and fade in every 8-10 seconds, or one fades out as the other slides into place from the right really quickly, the movement will draw attention to them and will also draw break up the reservoir dogs clip's slowness.

As for the Premiere overlays, I still disagree I'm sorry to say. I don't believe that even editors would choose to have two unrelated jokes overlayed on top of one another. And in this case, I think sakuraslight doesn't seem to like the end result either based on the above. It's a worthwhile experiment, but I would never bank on a joke being for such a specific audience, because editors are definitely not the majority of who will view this in the long run. Hell, Code just voiced his desire to join after not even seeing it in a con, so I don't think you'll have to worry :D

Now I see what you were saying. I can make this in Vegas but I can change the colors a bit (I like darker colors that aren't so vivid, if that makes any sense) and "cookie cutter" where the text is,...a process with several steps, but it can be done. Thanks for the layout.

As I reconstruct this monster, you'll all see a major difference. Especially in how much smoother it flows. There will be more of a defined rhythm throughout. I'll post a RapidShare link when the "rewrite" is done...

Here's a slightly darker version of the template without text or picture so you can fit everything in it if you want. Also you may have noticed your logo wasn't white in the last one since I slapped it in there for example purposes and forgot to paint behind it :) I don't know if vegas can hue/saturation selected sections, but if you want to bring the template into any paint program you might have, I can match any color for you if you sent it to me. Note that I basically just desaturated the colors and chose blue because you chose blue, and chose orange because it's a complimentary color. So if you want to drop it in a paint program and put the colors you want in it, I'll take care of the template so you can focus on the text and other things.

Also, while you're considering what could work for the Law and Order knocks, what about more things for the intro? Here's a few I thought of:

OTAKU BATTLE!
NEETs vs. Hikikomori! Who Will Step Outside First?
Live 24-Hour Video Of Front Doors for Ninth Month Straight

Funimation Copyrights 'Fun'
Families Sued for Children Having Enjoyment
Live Court Case at 8 PM Eastern, Followed By Executions

THE REAL STORY
Original One Piece Dub Causes Mass Suicides
See Why Redub Was Forced at Gunpoint, Sunday at Eleven

HARUHI DECLARES BASEBALL GOD'S GIFT TO MAN
Team Fortress Scout Announces: "Play Ball!"
See Negative Space's First Game when Camera Crew Returns... We Hope
(Forgot if it was Negative Space or not... probably wrong, but you get the idea)

I'm about 8:30-something into the "rewrite.

I'm taking a nap and then I need to take care of "real life" foo.

The downside to all this? I doubt the 'org will allow an exchange. I haven't heard from Otakon so I think we're locked in with the copy they have. Bummer... :(

Keep e-mailing/calling. Hell, I'll join in, who do we contact? Seriously, who do we contact, more calls for info will reveal urgency. Plus, the org not allowing a replacement seems a bit... senseless? Isn't it just a re-upload? Either way, seriously, make sure to bring a DVD to Otakon... actually bring two ^^ We'll walk the hell into the 'control center' and raise some hell. This is America, an exessive level of loud screaming will always lead to ceding to demands... or a police escort.

Either way, it's such a simple thing to do. It's not like they have to do anything to the DVD, do they? We can even slip the dude controlling the machines a 20 at the beginning of the fanparodies and get him to replace the DVD. I'm not even joking ^^ I don't believe the Otakon heads will find it unreasonable, though. Perhaps a bit unorthodox, but definitely not unreasonable as long as they get a look at it to make sure you're not going to broadcast porn or something.

Considering they accept:
1. VHS
2. mpeg1 or mpeg2 data files only,...

II believe they create a DVD out of all those sources, so in a way this is a massive MEP in the end. And since I'm the point of contact, it might not be wise to have others take on a letter-writing campaign on this project's behalf. I'll try again to contact and see if he has a FTP or something. If nothing else, I'll send a Megaupload link. Otakon is a HUGE event so more time for setup is needed...
