I really wanna see the final version of the video. I haven't seen many other entries and seen only those in the beta version. Wonder if all of my entries will be there >.<

Btw, good question sailor earth, I also wonder if the video will be uploaded to the org. I remember deuceloosely said something about uploading the vid, though I'm not sure... :?
...so I'm guessing definitely not for the kids? This should be fun...
My Eiken entries are probably one of the reasons for this

Umm...
So, how was it? I mean, it's already been a week, and I only see some news on the TekkoshoCon, and nothing about Tekko AMV Hell... Someone knows what happened? :?

Okay, kids...here's what happened.

AMV Hell 3.14: TekkoshoCon Edition didn't air for its first scheduled time because the hard drive it and the entire AMV contest was stored on had a meltdown...as did Illia Sadri. She did everything she could to salvage and add clips to this project Saturday afternoon, as there were two more scheduled showings.

The 11:30pm didn't happen because they put her in a room that was equipped for a DVD player but not a computer. Then at what was supposed to be the 2:30am showing, we found out there were rendering problems which prevented the clips from being made into a single presentation. What we ended up with was a string of hell clips running on a media player.

There was much favorable response for what was shown, although the majority of clips submitted were not displayed.

There is also a problem with taking this project live to the org. I was told a lot of the clip information never came in. While most of the anime was recognizable, a lot of the sound sources weren't. We need this information for things like closing credits and posting it to the org. I have the information about all the clips submitted prior to the transfer of administrative power, so whatever you have for anything you sent after that is necessary if this is to move forward.

I learned a lot over the course of this collab and will likely do this for another con in the near future, but I really want to have a completed Hell reel ready for next Tekko. I think we can use the same clips, since no one saw most of them. I'm gonna talk to whoever is necessary to make another run at this. Maybe we can get some of you to attend Tekko 6 as well?

Anyway, get that information in to her ASAP so hopefully this thing can go live or something. Otherwise, leave any comments or remarks on this thread even if yo're just saying hello or whatever.

man, that sucks. Seems to be that the first video in any contest I hear about is "cursed" whenever you give it a deadline.

I'm so sorry about that. If it helps, I didn't submit anything after the changeover, so what ever info you have for my stuff is still the same as what you have.

Best of luck with the getting everyone's info. Keep us posted about when it comes out.
And I thought nobody read these.

Well, I never did get the information as far as audio sources and video sources even from those from before the changeover. And Darkness, you are one of the very few who did give information. You are covered. I have Vlad, I have Judgeholden, I have mine obviously (I better know what I edited with).

And yes basically, the videos for both events were on two harddrives. The render was on one and was intended to immediately get transfered to vid staff computer and also burned to a DL disk (I hate DL burns personally). Well the schedule basically had me in events from opening ceremonies until about midnight with one 2 hour break between. That ended up being spent on getting food.

This also meant my computer was moved multiple times in this duration as no event happened to be back to back in the same room. This caused a static shock somehow to fry the controller of my 400Gig SATA drive. It was pretty much brand new and assumed to be the least likely to blow. Go figure.

Basically the contest itself was the priority. Someone offered to help and we ended up chugging over his core2duo machine from home so we could get 2 computers working on this. Typically for me to compile the contest and fully render it taked approximately a week. I had about 15 hours until the next showing. His computer compiled rendered while I redid the category sprite animations.

Contest gets compiled for afternoon sat showings and basically it is on to Hell. Now.... this is WHY I give specific codecs to submit to and why certain ones are highly not recommended. I had every codec under the sun. I had wmv galore, divx so old I needed to get divx since xvid didn't recognize it, xvid, only a handful of mpeg2, an old indeo codec and virtually every screen resolution under the sun....

So imagine from about 4pm to 11pm trying to render all that. Everything for the contest was already converted to mpeg2, and most of them were submitted in mpeg2 or divx, which are simple to convert. But with the hell clips some of them I had to kinda do backwards methods to begin with to get them to play. This meant a 20 second video was taking longer to deal with than a 5 min long drama video. We had a lot of choking of programs on some of these.

So basically if this happens again, there are going to be some much more stringent requirements in how these things are submitted. The first time rendering took a couple weeks to process these things. It is going to be held to the same standards as the amv contest in terms of accepted codecs and quality. Quite simply if I need to download new codecs just to play it, then chances are it is going to be problematic. It is not meant to be mean but this event should have not been harder and longer to put together than the 2 hour long contest that had larger files, bumpers to proofread etc etc.

I didn't name names. And yes your resend was far better. You weren't the only one who had used a strange codec. Yours I had issues even playing back much less converting. The rest could be played but many of them were in haphazard resolutions and the most stubborn codecs. And yes your info came through.

I got some info from the person directly.... others never did submit. That's the fact. I really can't do much about it. If you know you sent it then you are probably not part of the problem. That doesn't mean I don't have multiple clips with no ifnormation.

Here's a question: Can I still send clips? Cuz I have a few more ideas, and I really wanted to add some new stuff to my entries :P

Anyone who wants to send in ideas and more clips, feel free to do so. Since this thing never did happen at Tekko, and Otakon is coming up, I was thinking about putting this together as a collaboration piece and submitting it to that and perhaps certain other cons as a "fan-produced" video. I'd like this to be shown as a trailer of sorts before, say, the parodies or whatever. As soon as I have something put together (unless Illia Sadri has a finished version she can upload here or something), I'll provide a link and have you all preview it so you can send feedback and let me know what you think could be done differently. As it stands so far, I have eight minutes completed with more on the way (not to mention the closing credits)

All information pertaining to your video / audio sources is necessary if we are to complete something to represent the months of effort we all put into this.

And yes, the name of the project will likely have to do away with the TekkoshoCon element for the aforementioned purposes. Yes, it sucks about how everything happened, but things happen and there's little to nothing you can do. I'd really like to make this up to you all somehow, so if you'd like to drag this out for another few weeks, please send your submissions (AVI preferred) with the relevant info to my gmail address on the initial post.

I, for one, would sincerely like to try again for next year's TekkoshoCon with a new batch of videos. That is if Illia Sadri is willing as well?

I'd like everyone who reads this to weigh in on this matter. Thanks in advance...
