To everyone still watching this thread:
AMV Hell 4 is in production!
I got word of this a bit late, but there is still a month or so to get your submissions in. This is a project run by the "original" AMV Hell crew.
If you still have clips, I suggest you get your collective booties over here:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... p?p=930287
Also, you may want to bookmark http://www.amvhell.com .
I'll have a download link for you all via individual PM so you can see what the Otakon parody fans will be viewing. It should be up tonight. Cheers!

Wait a minute... So our submittions will be shown in AMV Hell 4???
And do I have to resend my submittions to AMV Hell 4? And are we still going to put this to Otakon?... Too many questions, sorry, but that's kinda sudden, I don't really understand what's going on...
I still have a few ideas, so I'm gonna make them and probably submit them... But wait, did the whole AMV Hell 3.14 thing will be canceled? And I worked on the opening for nothing? And... last question: are we actually collaborating with AMV Hell 4? I just need to hear all the details so I could understand everything.

1. AMV Hell 4 is a completely separate entity form 3.14 and, as such concern was expressed by 4's executive producer, none of these clips on 3.14 will be featured on that collaboration.
2. Unless I hear otherwise from the person heading up the parodies and fan-produced videos, 3.14 will still be featured at Otakon.
3. Submit your new clips to AMV Hell 4 (link listed in previous post).
4. We didn't cancel 3.14. The project just had to end because of the deadline for submissions to Otakon.
5. Again, 3.14 is completely separate from 4. Since 3.14 is no longer accepting submissions, I recommend you send them to 4.
I hope this clears up any confusion. Worry not; your work will not be unnoticed. Watch your PMs for a DL link to view the finished product.

Here's the scoop: there's been a slight change of plans regarding when AMV Hell 3.14 will premiere.
I will be at Anime Mid Atlantic this weekend. I couldn't wait for Otakon to let loose this explosive package of mirth, so (barring any more technical difficulties)...
Sunday, 10:am in Main Events Exhibit Hall B (Greater Richmond Convention Center), AMV Hell 3.14 will debut at AMA!
Before anyone asks, according to Matt Pyson (head honcho of fan-produced videos and parodies), we are still on for Otakon. Stay tuned for further developments.
Yeah, this also means this project will go live on the "org" soon after AMA.

Those are great news! I thought I'll have to wait until the end of Otakon for AMV Hell to be uploaded to the org and now it will be a lot faster! Again.... CURSE MYSELF FOR NOT LIVING IN USA... I bet I could come to Otakon and to AMA and to all other AMV contests... Oh well... I'm going to visit USA next year anyway, so I hope I'll be able to participate in any contest.
I just confirmed the collaboration message. Can't wait for AMV Hell 3.14 to get to the org!

UPDATE:
Encoding this project has been way more troublesome than anything has a right to. I have been following guide after guide to compressing video files, yet it's nothing short of a puzzle trying to find the right combination of codec and format.
Anything rendered as mpeg was too large and didn't allow me to choose codecs.
I've been trying every codec I can think of with avi, but still the file is too large for upload to the 'org.
I have found mp4 to be of dubious visual quality overall. The other problem is the resulting video format (H264Main) was only compatible with Quicktime, in spite of trying Winamp, WMP10, Real Player, and DivX.
My current attempt at improving the video is taking the 777mb mpeg2 file and re-rendering it to mp4. Hopwfully the degradation will be less than a straight mp4 render. If this doesn't work, I'm going to keep trying until I find the right combination. Remember that this project contains clips of varied file formats and not all of them have the same quality before render. The mpeg2 seems to be the best-behaved of all other formats, so hopefully once everything is locked into a uniform file type the mp4 codec won't affect the wmv clips so much.
Keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned...Otakon is just three weeks away!

For those interested...
I am hosting a Multi Editor Project to piece together a video for They Might Be Giants' song "Fingertips." There will be other songs, but this was my first choice.
If you still have your mojo and want to pad your resume further while having a bit of fun,...the thread is here.
This thread here for AMV Hell 3.14 will soon be locked, but I have your contact info still. I'll make sure to contact you all for further projects and developments concerning this one. As for Project TMBG,...who's in?

Post-Otakon update
I am pleased to report that I was able to send the revised AMV Hell 3.14 with the corrected end credits. It was shown three times - once Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon before the fan parodies.
This reel, in spite of some comments given on the 'org, was very well-received by those who viewed it. Although the last five minutes or so was more miss than hit, the hits earned lots of laughs. Some of the highlights included the clips which used sound samples from Pinky and the Brain, Dragonforce, Barenaked Ladies, Zero Wing, Aerosmith, Blazing Saddles, Frank Sinatra, Rayman's Raving Rabbids, Stephen Lynch, and the Miracles.
Congratulations, fellow producers! Look for this to appear at future cons. Stay tuned for further reports.
Is there anyone here who wishes to participate in something like AMV Hell IV-2? Just gauging interest...

In case you hadn't heard or noticed, the name of this project has been changed to reflect that this is not in conjunction with the "official" AMV Hell series.
Therefore, ADD Theater 3.14 will be the title. This is just to clear any confusion.
Unfortunately, this also means another alteration to the opening titles and closing credits. Since new clips are being submitted now, it's going to have to be that way anyhow. I apologize profusely for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please feel free to weigh in...
