hmm, i mean like if you made a project in premiere pro 2.0, and then tried to edit it in premiere pro 1.0 that would work? For ex. AE7 projects cant be edited in older versions.(i know that its only AE7 for the project though)

i have a copy of pro floating around my apt somewhere... i just really dont want to install it... nor do i like editing on it... and how would the editing work? are you sharing scripts?? is everyone expected to own the same dvds? cause i know that when i rip a dvd, i just save all of the big vob files and d2v them together... then run the avs scripts through make avis... hence me having 1 fake avi file per dvd... and i know TONS of people cant/dont edit that way... not to mention that every time i've tried to copy over my d2v files i've had to re-save them with the exact vob files, because i accidentally forgot one one time and it threw everything off... totally fsking up my amv... and what about if i were to take make psd files and port them from photoshop to premiere? would i have to upload the extra file that no one else would have? cause if i were to participate i think it would be funny to have some crazy cut outs on the screen.... im not trying to rain on your parade or anything, im just curious on how this would work... and letting you know what you may run into...

sorry to double post, but i know there will be a counter argument to my last post with "but if we do it the way you said then we dont have the freedom of moving around clips and fixing timing spot and stuff like that! exc." aand you are right, but look at the tennis post in screenshots, they share a jpg. we dont get the freedom of moving stuff around and by sharing the psd file... and it would be nice to move stuff around in the original.. but who said you cant? you can edit over spots, you can cut stuff out and put it where you think it should go! be creative! and again, im not trying to bash your idea, nor am i trying to take this over in any way... im just offering an opinion... take it or leave it, it dosnt matter. I can tell you right now though, limiting the editing programs to those 2 means that a lot of editors wont participate...

we'll discuss how the first person should set up the files after it's decided who is going to be in the project.

for any vector art, probably EPS files since they are pretty much standard between vector programs.
for photoshop, psds do fine between versions. and AE should be able to take any version.
in the unlikely case that a psd gives a problem, finding a work-around wouldn't be hard.

I have no knowledge of Pro 1.0/1.5/2.0 not being compatible with each other. They seem to all work with the same basic systems and language for keys. If you for instance grab a number of keys done in AE7.0 and paste them in 6.5 it will be off. A way to fix this is pasting the command in a text file first, edit some of the first lines in the data. And then copy and paste that into 6.5 to make it work. I could try and see if I can find the article again on that. So if all is lost and we do happen to have to do cross versions you'll know what to do.

assuming we want track one to be just straight cuts and opacity changes, premiere 6.5 might be acceptable

Yeah, I saw a tutorial on how to paste keyframe data from AE7 into older versions. The only problem was that if you use data from plugin but with different versions you have to know what to delete.

Also heres the tutorial : http://forums.creativecow.net/articles/ ... FullCD.mov

It's originally about AE7 data into Particle Illusion but it goes over AE7 into AE6.5 and below.

I think I've read a different article but that is basically what it boils down to indeed.
