If you check the first thread, I actually said I'd be using it when I first joined up. (If that makes any difference.)

It does make a difference. You said:
Vivaldi from previous thread wrote:I'd like 6:02-6:30 with...

Well, I'm not sure what with yet, it will include EF- a tale of memories.
and this was stated on the second page of the thread. At the time, I wasnt even co-coordinator. It just looks like your info was never updated. You're not at fault and I heard you started on your track already. I'll talk to Raep as soon as I can.

Btw: do you have msn or aim?

That was actually a misunderstanding. I told OnyX I really liked my track, but I just ment I really loved the music for my track, he thought I ment I liked how my track was going. E.g. The part I'd gotten completed.

-Update-
-If your source is fullscreen, you have the choice between resizing and cropping before editing or turning in a 640x480 video, knowing that it will be resized and cropped at the bottom and top.
After talking it over with some people, this was the best solution that I could come up with. Some people had the idea of letter boxing the fullscreen tracks, but I'm just against that. I think it'll look weird with black bars on the left and right side. Onyx brought to my attention that resizing and croping may take away from the editing a person put into it. So if you are editing a full screen track, choose which ever option you are most comfortable with.

Also @Vivaldi: TC says he sorry about not updating your track info in the previous thread and that he misunderstood what you said. I still need to get a hold of reap and talk to him.

Meh, I strongly disagree, but I suppose it's been decided. What's wrong with moving borders? Worked for other MEPs. And I'm not sure what you mean by black bars on the left and right of the screen.

So, how do I letterbox my footage without squishing it or losing half of my footage?

If we decide to letterbox full screen tracks, we would have black space (or bars on the side). Like how this video does: http://tinyurl.com/6je2yl
We could do this and use the same method that other meps use with wide screen tracks and just have them transition to that, but my argument against this is that matted/letterboxed wide screen is normal in AMVs and television, whereas letterboxed full screen isnt.
So, how do I letterbox my footage without squishing it or losing half of my footage?
First, dont squish your footage. If you choose to resize and crop, you have three methods of control:

Method 1:
Before editing, resize and then crop your footage, cutting off the top and bottom. Essentially, you are loosing an amount of footage this way. That is why you do this before editing so it doesnt effect it as much as doing it at the end would because you see the end product while editng

Method 2:
Instead of cropping out the top and bottom all time, you can choose to crop the bottom sometimes and the top in other places. You can base it off the scene. Even though this is complicates things for the editor, it does give you more control over your footage. Basically, if someone is standing and the footage originally shows half his body from waist to head at 640x480, you can choose to crop the bottom when resizing, taking away some footage of his waist versus taking some from both the waist and head because the head may be more important to the shot and you want it to completely show.

Method 3:
You choose to just submit a 640x480 video, you have keep in mind that it will be cropped from the top and bottom and this gives you the least control.

What he means is, the whole mep with be in 848 x 480. If you give us a 640 x 480 track, it would have black bars on the left and right. Unless everyone is very familiar with your source and is extremely anal, no one will even care if its cropped and resized. It looks good, I do it all the time. Do not just crop the top (or bottom) because that will stretch the footage and it will look ugly. If you use avs, a good way to make your footage 848 x 480 is to use this crop / resize script

crop(0,60,-0,-60)
lanczosresize(848,480)

Obviously you will need to crop the left and right according to your source.

I do this all the time and it looks good 95% of the time so its not a huge loss. All the action is usually centered in the middle of the screen anyways :awesome:

I've got my source looking the way I want it, thanks to LittleAtari. I started editing for a little while ago.

For the record, I am using Godannar.

Has everyone else decided on their source? I guess I need to go look at the main page XD

I'll go with Busou Renkin and see how I can do with that.
