Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
I always go into the "Custom" menu before render.
I choose "Best" video quality, 720x480 resolution, progressive scan, and two-channel stereo for audio.

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
Since the updated Jigglypuff didn't make it in the Salad here it is: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y654SSAM
Was it decided to cut the Sgt Frog clip, or did it just go missing?
I think it would be better to separate older anime from each other. (Twice Sailor Moon followed Moomin [the Hippo] and I just prefer not to see a lot of dated anime in a row if they can be kept seperate after other considerations).
I also think the two "prostitute hippo" clips should be further apart.
Do you guys think it would be better if the "Your Breasts..." was edited to be explosion after the snapping tube top?
I liked the Jelly Donut one. It's an inside joke on the Pokemon dub where onigiri is translated to 'jelly donuts'... very wtf... I think that since the clip is so short it may be worth keeping it in for people who recognize it.
I still think the Screw in the Tuna is interminably long.... I never saw the show the audio comes from, but I suspect that's just as well.
For production tags, do we just need to send in a picture or are we supposed to make it explode?

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
I like the idea of the tube top explosion.
The production tag doesn't need to explode as we have a lot of them in the main project already (whether incidental or otherwise).
Krvabo's tag is already familiar and just seemed appropriate for an explosion.
Come to think of it, I need a new tag myself.
The talk has been the Sgt.Frog thing was too slow / quiet / whatever.
I personally like it but, for a general audience, might serve as an amusing buffer between to hard-hitting clips (if that makes any sense?).

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
The fades are in the source clip. I've checked but I can't really recreate the original video without fades, the transition (between the parts) would be horrible.Gaelstrom wrote:
Hmm, you're still using fades, Krvabo, I personally think it hurts the comedic nature of the ending. If I had to choose my favorites of ending cuts you could make from the ones you've shown in all versions, I would say start with her chasing them on the boat from this version, then cut to him wading the river with the panther, followed by them on the ferry looking into the distance. You could even get a fourth in there potentially, but that might be pushing it. And make sure you cut along with the trumpet stops, it'll keep up the strength. During the final trumpet calls starting at the 20 second mark, you would have five notes, cut, then the five really fast notes, cut, then finish off with the final image during the trumpet rise. If you feel you really have to use fades if you really want to insinuate time going by, make them very fast fades, but I honestly think you should stick with cuts. It's still a clip that warms my heart with a smile for reasons I don't even understand ^^
Also, do send Deuce your best quality version, always. Doesn't matter if it's big, because the quality will degenerate as it goes to DVD and as it's compressed for internet, always remember that.
I've tried putting in your favorite parts, but there just isn't enough music to facilitate 3 seperate clips. The best I could do is the boat/bridge one and the ferry.
This one is my final. I think it's good this way.
And yeah, I do send a good quality version. Wouldn't you say 35+ MB is enough for 24 seconds of video, considering most series are encoded at 180MB for 22 minutes?
The HQ one is made by Premiere and is interlaced. I use virtualdub to get a nice quality deinterlaced video at roughly 35-40 MB.
You could try to demux the audio in virtualdubmod (freeware) to wav, or just use virtualdubmod to create a good encode.Deuce Loosely wrote:I've been trying to get it to work in Vegas but either the audio / video streams (or both) were absent.kireblue wrote:Hey Deuce. You didn't throw in my "I am Greymon, hear me roar" video. Did you forget?
I must either put the clip together myself with the file missing audio and other missing video or ask for an mpeg2 of the clip.

Here's my version 3, low quality.
This is the last version I'm doing

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
Tube Top: The explosion footage was nice, but like I've said making a human randomly explode does not and will not ever work. That clip was absolutely perfect the way it was, you don't have anything to worry about ^^ But for example, the reason krvabo's production tag works as an explosion gag is actually a very subtle loophole in our minds. It's because it's not the girl who's exploding, it's the tag itself that's exploding. Most people won't understand why it works, but it doesn't matter, we just have to make sure they don't consciously wonder why something explodes, otherwise it becomes a physics problem rather than a jokeWarlike Swans wrote:Here is the Snapping Tube Top with an Explosion http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WZNZXO10
Deuce: I honestly have to disagree. Several of our current explosions aren't good enough. Like I've said, SammySama's timing is the best so far in the three clips we have, but the others in there, such as your Dokuro-chan one and the penguin one do not work for multiple reasons. At the very least yours works in general, but it has some massive footage problems at the beginning that need to be fixed, but I already mentioned how dubious it is to have a human explode. It's passable as an idea, but the footage problem kills the joke because it's so noticeable. The penguin one as a concept is all right, but it's execution is too directionless to really be really funny. I don't know how to make it better either, and moonbunnychan's time is better spent making her good music clips that much stronger. I just got an idea tonight that I can try tomorrow, so I'll give it a shot and upload it hopefully this weekend, along with the one I'm working on right now. We're not done yet, we have a lot of things to fix other than just the credits. Thankfully we have a little while after AMA.
Potential Volume Problem!!: Deuce, you may have to go into Vegas if you can and reduce the explosion sounds just a bit to keep them away from clipping the speakers by a few decibels. I spoke with a friend, and we recognized that that sound is a squared-off wavelength, meaning it has no variation, and could cause problems for big speakers set at high volume. We could get rejected because of it, so it may be necessary for you to put a keyframe in the explosion sections and lower the audio for them by about 3 decibels to get it into a safe zone. Not too much, just a bit to keep it away from clipping. I'll ask Scott about it, perhaps we'll be okay. But we also don't want to hurt the audience's ears or we'll lose their attention and they'll turn on us.
Krvabo: You have plenty of footage to do the three cuts. You just cut off the fades, simple as that. You only need it for a second to a second and a half for each cut. The boat scene has enough, as does the wading. You can even slow down the footage by 5-10% if it's a hair under. Don't let it go into the final with the weak ending, please, I like it too much to let you give up on making it work stronger. It's not like it's more than 5 minutes work either ^^ Do you understand what I meant when I described the cuts at the trumpet notes?

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
What's the deadline for getting stuff sent to you for the final? I finally have some time off both tomorrow and Monday to work on stuff.
I haven't watched the new beta yet (it's downloading right now), but I can say I didn't actually do anything to the unicorn clip...I guess Deuce did? Anyway you have my blessing if it's one less thing I need to do lol.
I'm all for cutting the K-on radio one. I'm also fine for cutting the Princess and the Frog one since I'm not sure that it's laugh out loud funny and it does run a bit long.
As for the credits...I feel sorta bad for making so many now lol. But I do really like actually having my name associated with what I made in the credits.

I have no idea as far as new material but supposedly this needs to be done for AMA by Wednesday. The quicker the clips get in the better IMO.moonbunnychan wrote:What's the deadline for getting stuff sent to you for the final?

Yeah, seems to be Wednesday next week as the deadline for AMA, with a bit of extra time the following week for last-minute polishing. I really don't want to cut the K-on song on the radio, I really want you to fix it up a bit. While the 'underwear' one had a lot of work to do on it, the song on the radio was quite funny, and just required a bit of extra polish and that final censor getting some kind of visual I think. Same with the Haruhi Funky Town's general sync, you can take care of those easily, you're more than capable to crank out those changes in a few hours.moonbunnychan wrote:What's the deadline for getting stuff sent to you for the final? Princess and the frog I like your initial ideas of using the AMA as a real beta for some things. Let's let it ride for the AMA and see the audience reaction. I personally agree that it will probably not cause laughing out loud, but if you want to give it its chance, I believe it deserves it.
And don't ever feel bad making a bunch of clips, you did great this year.
Now, the big, BIG urgency is making sure we get some clips of guys walking away from explosions!

Re: AMV Salad 5: Happy Meal (Post-Production)
I have done a quick scan of everything that I THOUGHT would have at least one scene of people walking away from an explosion and I can't seem to find any. My next attempt is to be finding a general walking scene where I can feasibly cut the character out and just have an explosion behind it...but we'll see how that goes...Gaelstrom wrote:
