Hello. While my postcount may be small and my track record may be equally small (shame), I plan on making a few videos for this awesome installment. I look forward to submitting in the near future and hope it turns out OK.
Quick questions though:
1- When you finally do get to the process of choosing which videos make it in, is there any sort of seniority rule? Like, do newcomers to this have less of a chance than people who are well known, or is it strictly on the entertainment value of the video?
2- Could you give me an example of a borderline entry? One that tells me "You must be at least THIS good to ride the AMV"?
3- What qualifies as a song? There are ones sung on T.V. shows that are good; do they count? How about comedians kinda spoof singing?
I know I seem kind of nitpicky, but I want to make especially sure that I get this right the first time. Thanks again.

LC_Lapen: I don't care who you are. I have taken in a number of vids so far by people whom I have never even heard of before. Videos are chosen purely on the content, not by who makes them. The first major factor we look at is whether we thought it was funny, and secondly, was it put together well? I can't give you an example of a borderline entry regarding content, because it's all subjective. As for what qualifies as a song, I'm not going to get into that either. We aren't going to toss something out on a technicality. If your video is good stuff, and it reasonably fits in with the rules, then it will be used.

Couldn't have said it better myself...even though the question wasn't directed towards me in the first place. ...I'll shut up and make more videos now.Zarxrax wrote:LC_Lapen: I don't care who you are. If it is just technical issues, I will contact you asking for fixes.TheTimmy wrote:hey, if a video doesn't make it in, how can we be sure that it was because the video didn't have what it takes, vs. technical issues with the file itself (not high enough video quality, improper use of a codec, not the right resolution, etc..)

UPDATE
We have decided to allow audio sources besides songs. This means you can use whatever you want now--clips from tv shows or movies, movie trailers, sound effects, whatever. Please keep in mind though that these types of entries are still discouraged though, and priority will be given to entries that use actual songs.
Also, in order to ensure that this project actually gets completed on time, we have had to fool around with the deadline a bit. There is now a Priority Deadline set at July 1. Please try to have your entries in by this date. We will still accept entries until the previously stated deadline of August 1, but any entries received before July 1 will be given priority.
Last, but not least, we are holding a contest to create a theme song for AMV Hell 4! If you have any musical tenancies, give it a shot! See the full details here: http://amvhell.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1212
