You're gonna try to pull Animoto into AMV Salad. LOL That would be epic.
1. ...what is "animoto?"

2. As long as your clip doesn't look "noob-ish," there shouldn't be a problem. I do, however, insist on doing everything possible to avoid turning in a WMV. Just make it funny.

3. Ishbalan - are you planning on jumping into the Salad this time around? I like the idea of as many producers as possible to add more flavor...

Well, I suck at editing... hard. If you'll notice, I haven't released any AMVs. While I do plan to make AMVs eventually, I don't think that it will be any time soon. I am here because I love anime and I love AMVs, and I love the people who make them. I am always watching a few MEP threads to keep track of progress, and yours, Deuceloosely, happened to be one of them. I like the idea of continuing the AMV Salad legacy, but if it has that song from the OC even once in it, it will only be creating an allusion to AMV Hell 4, where it was blatently overused, and that is something that no one on this thread wants.
As for the Animoto thing, check here:

Is it that bad? It's a 15 second clip w/Kira fighting those pilots that blow themselves up.

I'm sure it would be a great video, but it's just bad luck on your part that the song was used so excessively in such a popular MEP.
However, it's not an obstacle that can't be overcome. If you can make it so good that it blows all the others away without conveying the feeling of a copied idea, then go for it. You have your work cut out for you though. The 3 times it was used in AMV Hell 4 were pretty random.
Spoiler :
1. Julia gets shot, queue music. It was somewhat a copy of a part of AMV Hell 3, but since it was the first time used, the random was still in it.
2. Spike's final moment. *bang* Queue music and random (real, not anime) person in a robe is supposedly shot and falls out of his chair. Pure random.
3. Light shot repeatedly by Matsuda. With every shot, the music starts over, just like in the SNL Digital Short. It was excellently made, but it would have had much more effect had the other two not preceded.
Good luck beating those.

My clip is like the third clip you mentioned w/DN. I had no idea of the third clip. I did the clip after I saw the SNL parody and saw that many people did them before AMV Hell 4 was released.

As much as I hate re-quoting these posts,... :P

that was AMV Hell 4. They have nothing to do with the Salad except that their series inspired the creation of this one (if you saw the back story behind this one). Just as long as your clip isn't a direct rip or a very similar clip to the one you're speaking of, go ahead and turn it in. I will figure out if it will make the final reel, since I have Hell 4 on my HD for reference.

Also,...and I hate to keep pestering about this,...those production tags are also important. Don't forget about them. ;)

It's a Gundam clip. There is no need to worry. There are some clips that I would like to make my own versions of, but this isn't one of them. I'll email it.

One more thing, and this is kind of the deciding factor for me. Does it have to be funny? Or can it just be original, or cool, like a concept etc.

*shrugs* maybe I should just sent a beta of what I mean... if I can be arsed.

Beta...yeah. Sounds like a good idea. Funny is what I'm aiming for, but I'll see if I can use it anyway. Y'never know...

Hey everyone!
Sorry, I've been quite busy for a while (army stuff and all...). Anyway, Deuce, I got 3 clips ready to be sent, and a few more to be done. If you want, I'll send those 3 and maybe I'll make a few more... But with all that frustration I'm having now... I doubt that I will. So just remind me the uploading ftp server via PM and I'll send those 3 clips to ya. Mind that they might not be as good as my previous clips, but I guess they're ok. Anyway, you judge :P
