But if you look at how actual reality tv shows are conducted, all the judges know who did what anyway. There's obviously going to be inherent bias, but isn't it the judges' job to make sure they grade on skill (or whatever criteria) anyway? It made sense for the last round to be anonymous simply because part of the challenge was the judges trying to figure out who edited what, but it shouldn't matter that much for this round. I would say that for any other competition it would be better to keep things anonymous, but if we want to model an actual reality show here, it'd be better to keep it open.Kevmaster wrote:Everyone would say (and some actually believe) that, but somewhere deep inside there is always (even if just small) bias if you know who edited the videomirkosp wrote:I actually like you all equally. Ok. Here's the thing about that. The point of this round is to make a certain genre. Like the last round, the job of the editors is portray their assigned genre. Therefore, while I'm going to take off the names again, it's the duty of the editors to actually make the assigned genre. I had no intention of keeping the editors a secret this round (it has something to do with the twist on the 28th, which I am not revealing yet). Judges will know who edited who, and I'm making it certain that no bias will be given.mirkosp wrote: Code, your error here was putting up who had which genre.
I'm both the coordinator and judge, and I knew who edited what in the last round, and I know for a fact that I didn't score according to who I liked and did not like as a person. What I wanted to see was results (the AMVs) in a spectacular way. I mean, good grief, my favorite video of the group (kzrT's and OnyX DragoN's) recieved lower scores than the two videos I didn't like (blabbler and Kev's). If I were bias, I would give those two all tens and be done with it, and then given the latter two 0's and be done with it.
Also, keep in mind that's there's already a grade of bias. That's the judge's opinion category. We all have different likes/dislikes (just like in professional industries), and I want that to be known.
Also, kzrT brings up a good point. I think what we (the judges) are looking for is how good of a video you guys make. It's not who you are as a person.
Anyway, that little contraversy aside, I will take my leave and go work on finishing the compilation here after I finish cleaning my room. Luckily, my boss got another person to cover the meeting. :O
