I put part of a beta in the spreadsheet before I get to far into editing it.

ok, I have a new beta in the spreadsheet, I'm really not sure what to think of it, especially the chorus bits. Thoughts?

Re: Valentine MEP 2012 - Phase 1
Ok I watched it and here you have some of my impressions:
-A fact that I didn't like was the presence of those black bars in the sides. If you want, I can extend you my 720p episodes of No.6 if not, try doing something with them because I couldn't fully enjoy the beta with them
-Ghost frame blending, I guess you already know how to remove them. If not, feel free to ask
-Lip Flaps? I dunno if the mouth movements were intended or not
-Synch: What are you exactly synching? The lyrics? The beats?
About the chorus here you have 2 options:
You can continue synching the lyrics as you did in the 1:09
You can try doing some hard cuts and a fast pacing editing and then start with the lyrics-synch.
The important fact here: The second 0:56 has a different beat from all the song, and the song obviously gets more upbeat, consider that when you decide to start working in that part because the edition there should be faster than the beginning, just my opinion
It's up to you what you'll like to do there, or if anyone has a recommendation is welcome
Now about my recomendations, focus mainly in the first 2, if you want to keep the same structure of the beta for the final it's ok, in this MEP I can allow several things

Re: Valentine MEP 2012 - Phase 1
1. Any suggestions as to what to do with them?
2. Removed them.
3. A couple of them were, I usually save that till the end to get rid off.
4. That's where the problem starts, at first I was syncing to the lyrics just because they actually fit really well, then later on I tried to the beat to see which looked better and I couldn't decide so I left them both in to see which got the popular vote. XD
Yeah, I was planning on adding some movement to the chorus bits so it would look more upbeat and all, I think I'll keep going with synching the lyrics, just to make it a little more different.
Thank you for everything!

Re: Valentine MEP 2012 - Phase 1
My suggestions:
Use a 16:9 footage (I'll prefer this one)
Disable 'Keep Aspect Ratio (Though I wouldn't want you to do it) in Vegas (You use Vegas right?)

Re: Valentine MEP 2012 - Phase 1
...Are people still allowed to sign up? I know I'm a little late, but I figured I would ask anyway.
Anime: Mawaru Penguindrum, (pretty sure it's going to stay this one, unless I suddenly find something else on my harddrive that hits me with inspiration).
Song: Before You Go
Artist: OK Sweetheart
Also, I was reading through the thread and I couldn't seem to find a time limit. Is there one, or is it more of a 'stay within a reasonable amount of time' thing? Found it on the first page, lol. I should have a beta for you by next week if this is all okay.

Yes, you're allowed
Ok, I should remind you that the MEP will be premiered at February 12. If people needs time I may give 1 extra day
I haven't given a specific deadline, but the soon you extend a beta, the best. Also, I'll extend you the spreadsheet so that you can check the betas that will be uploaded there

Re: Valentine MEP 2012 - Phase 1
Uploaded my beta, and let me say right off the bat that yeah...yeah the quality is so-so on some of the clips. HOWEVER, I assure you that the video looks 100x better as a lagarith, since it seem zarx is making my editing life awful and converting things to look like a flaming pile of---Well, you get the point. I think it's because I have too much crap on my computer, but we'll see.
Anyway, onto the betas already here!

To be honest, I never expected these two sources to ever meet, but it manages to work pretty nicely. The only thing I can really nitpick about it is, like Tritio said, the pacing around :45. Seems like it could be a little faster with the transition. Also, I think the transition at :56 could be a half-second to a second faster, to match the symbol beat rather than the words, (since the majority of the video is based on instrumental switching). Otherwise, awesome stuff!

Okay, as much as I dislike this song, this video makes me like it. Suuuper cute stuff. The only lip-flap problem that really bugs me is around :12, since his mouth is moving so quick with the drawn out words of the song. Also, the overlay text is a little jarring at the moment, but I think that's because there's black space that needs to be filled on either side of those clips; otherwise it's a nifty idea. Transition at :14 seems a little out of place as well, but if you intend on using more like it then it should work out well. Nice job so far, look forward to seeing it completed!
