Editing Experiment: Atari Teenage Riot (Interesst Gauge)
Good evening my fellow amv editor colleages.
Today I would like to introduce my new idea for a MEP project and I hope that some of you might want to join. First I will present my idea and when I get enough participants I'll start to work on a mix.
Editing Experiment - Atari Teenage Riot
Goals of the MEP (vision):
A kick as amv which seperates itself from the usal grey mainstream band MEPs out there. To make a difference there will be unusal editing methods, effects and music. Great music, but for sure something which is NOT suited for a wide audience.
Do you remeber this thread? This will be an un-orthadox MEP in many ways. If you ask me, theire music is challenging and maybe I find some people who would like to join the challenge
The band - Atari Teenage Riot
BASIC INFO:
Musical Style: Digital Hardcore (a mix of punk, electro and many other styles)
You better read the artist description here, because the wiki article isn't that good though:
ATR on LastFM.com
About my mixing plans:
Ok I have the Atari Teenage Discography and the sampler "The Virus Has Been Spread" (which is a tribute to ATR with kick ass cover versions of their songs). I would like to use songs from Atari Teenage Riot and maybe some songs that are connected to them. This includes cover versions or maybe even songs from the solo artists of the band like Alec Empire or Nic Endo. I really like the cover versions so I think that I might take heavy use of them.
If you have any lossless copies of theire songs I would be happy if you could spare them.
Examples to listen to:
Atari Teenage Riot - Revolution Action
Atari Teenage Riot - Speed
Atari Teenage Riot - Too Dead for me
Atari Teenage Riot - Destroy 2000 Years Of Culture
Atari Teenage Riot - Rage
Atari Teenage Riot - Digital Hardcore
Atari Teenage Riot - Deutschland (Has Gotta Die)
Rabbit Junk - Start The Riot (Cover)
64revolt - You Can't Hold Us Back (Cover) (Free Download)
Artistic bounds:
You're allowed to use what you want to use. That's right!
You want to use Live Action, your own filmed scenes? Go for it.
You want to use mangas, paintings or your own 3D scenes? Go for it.
You want to use real life pornography or hentai? Well... Go for it. I want this MEP to have a level. Bouncing boobies and explcit scenes (genitals) are under this level. You still want to use such scenes? Go for it and try to confience me that your part has still this level and "style". Erotic is always fine, but I just don't want such scenes to be too excessiv. We can also talk about releasing a censored and uncensored edition for the .org
You want something else? Ask me and we discuss it.
Still... I look forward to make a 50%+ anime MEP. If this isn't the case at the end... well than it's still fine.
Some basic rules of the MEP:
You communicate with your track neighbours to set every up for smooth transitions.
You can work with more than one person on a track.
You can work on more than one track. However try to finish one track first before starting or reserving another track.
Requirements to join:
Solid/Good editing knowledge. I don't want monkeys who blindly edit after beats without thinking. Use your brain to create something beyond the usual .org videos and unique.
Good technical knowledge. I might want this to be 60fps or HD though. High visual quality is at least a must.
Good effect/design knowledge. I don't want monkeys who blindly use presets and video copilot tutorials. Use your brain, choose a style, dont make perfedic stuff, have style. If you can edit to this music without fx it's fine, but personally I think that fx will be a must for this kind of music. Let's see.

A band mep is a band mep weather the band is mainstream or not at this point. I'm totally sick of the idea. Count me out.

You're right, but there is a way to seperate from the usual MEP with originality. If the eyes and the ears of some viewers bleed after watching this video, I may achieved a goal.Arashinome wrote:A band mep is a band mep weather the band is mainstream or not at this point.
I never have count you in anyway. What a big loss...I'm totally sick of the idea. Count me out.

Atari isn't a teenager, dude.
She is a riot, though, I'll give you that.

Alright. One of my best friends said that he could throw up because of the stupid elitismn in my first post. I would like to specify the MEP somehow more: It should be different from the stuff that I see today in AMVs. Different in many ways. Different, but still top notch editing and stuff. That's the goal.
Two editors already would like to join the MEP. I'll start to plan a mix.

Re: Editing Experiment: Atari Teenage Riot (Interesst Gauge)
I finished AMV Salad 3 (FINALLY! and it's in the hands of Otakon this weekend. I also just completed a decent WTF / upbeat vid which won't see competition until I get some opinions from the Suggestion forum (not very likely from the look of it). Now I'm thinking of the AMV ideas I had - good ones, too - which had been on the shelf during my long-suffering computer issues. And wouldn't you know I can't find the inspiration to work on any of them?
Anyway,...this may be what I need to push my skills to the next level (whatever that is) and perhaps even inspire me to create something different than the rest of my work.
I'm in if you'll have me...
