30 fps to 29.97 fps without desynching audio

Post by Kazemon15 » Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:54 am

Well, my friend and I decided to do a little collab, we finished both our parts, except for the small problem that her framerate is 30 fps and mine is 29.97... Everytime I try to convert hers to put it together, it's always off sync. How can I fix this? Thanks.

Make her change her timeline settings and fix around where it's not synced anymore. :P
Other ways might have a 1 frame off-sync here and there...

The "easy" way would be <b>AssumeFPS(29.97,sync_audio=true)</b>, but that might cause slight audio degradation due to the conversion.

Code: Select all

AssumeFPS(29.97,sync_audio=true).SSRC(48000,fast=false)
or if you want to be absolute,

Code: Select all

AssumeFPS(30000,1001,sync_audio=true).SSRC(48000,fast=false)

Either may require putting an extra SSRC call before AssumeFPS in addition to the one after it. And of course, use 44100 if you're shooting for 44.1kHz instead of 48 (which I only put down there because the only time I ever really need to do this is when I prepare stuff for DVD).

That'd slightly slow down the song, though... I'm not sure how noticeable it'd be tho.

It isn't noticeable, or at least not to me. It's also the same tactic employed by BeSweet to prepare the audio for the editor when you adjust for 23.976fps when using 24fps footage, and that transform is barely noticeable - if at all - either (and it's a greater slow-down than 30->29.97).
