interlacing troubles

Post by banders » Tue Oct 06, 2009 3:07 am

Ive been having problems with de-interlacing my DVD rips, Ive tried virtualdubmod, any video converter (that's the name of the program, not that ive tried every converter program in existence ^^; ) and the deinterlace property in Sony Vegas, but no matter what I do always have some interlacing at least for mouth movements (image below as an example, hopefully the still shows what im talking about >_>;) can a good program for complete deinterlacing and/or a preferred setting incase Ive just been doing it wrong? any replies will be greatly appreciated and thank you. :oops:

Insert one of these in your script, they usually do it for me:

Code: Select all

tomsmocomp(1,5,1)
or

Code: Select all

fielddeinterlace()
Then again I'm using outdated versions so there might be some even better filter by now..

When it comes to small movements, the only way that I found to be working was using nnedi2() in avisynth. However, it is slower than most if not all the other deinterlacers around. CtS's suggestions might do it, but on small mouth movements or credit rolls they might fail, whereas nnedi2 surely won't.
You can get the nnedi2 dll for avisynth here.

(I'm assuming you know how to use avisynth, but in the case you don't, I suggest you to Read <a href=http://www.a-m-v.org/guides/avtech31/>ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides Lovingly Overhauled Largely by Zarxrax</a>.)
