What does "commenting out" the filters do? and why would I use it?

it's just an easy way to nullify the effect of a script line/filter [without actually deleting the line, and forgetting what you put]. You would want to do this because some scripts are quite cpu intensive, like mftoon(), and if you just want to seek through the footage, it would go through at a snails pace.

Whats the MJPEG your refer to? a compressor like huffyuv? if so does it come with the amvapp or do you have to download it somewhere else? Also would it be better to use than huffyuv?

For encoding to MJpeg you can also use SUPER.

Just thought I would at that as I think you need to register for PICVideo MJPEG now. I think you can download a trial version of PICVideo MJPEG and then use in virtualdubmod too but not sure if that way of using ends with the trial version as well.
