Sorry for so many posts, I've never bought a Japanese version of a DVD before...

Will I be able to play this on my home DVD player? I have a Mac with a built in DVD drive, will I be able to rip it with that even though its a different region?
Only if your home DVD player is Region-Free. As for the Mac, it depends on the ripping program and what it can do, which is typically the case for any OS. DVD Decrypter or SmartRipper can both rip it regardless of the fact it's an R2, although the drive's performance while ripping may take a speed hit unless you flash the firmware to make it Region-Free also.

Obviously if you burn the decrypted output to a new DVD there won't be any problems, no matter what region the player is set on (I've never heard of set-top players rejecting Region-Free discs as it would kind of destroy the market for consumer DVD authoring, although I'm sure there are some finicky players out there).
