Surely there is a more simple way of getting DVD quality footage. Is there not a program that will rip dvds to VOB format then convert it to what ever format you want - ie Lagerith Lossless?

More specifically, there isn't one single way to properly handle every source (stuff like deinterlacing/IVTC varies between sources).
That, and lossless copies of VOBs straight from a dvd would run somewhere around 7GB/episode.
The process may not be 1-click, but after you learn it...it's not painful.

I rip just scenes I want off the DVD using SUPER... you select the VOB file (either directly off the DVD or on your computer as long as its the original VOB), pick DV AVI, and tell it how many seconds in to start converting and how far for it to go. It's a bit time consuming, and it ends up taking up roughly 5MB/second of space, but it's extremely straightforward and you end up with just the clips you want so it's easier to edit from there. I'm pretty sure it's a hell of a lot easier than the instructions given in that tutorial above, and you end up with DVD-quality AVI files that will work flawlessly without preview renders in any editor.
Super chokes on some copyright-protected DVDs however.

Please don't ever give advice again, at least not if it contains terrible suggestions like using SUPER.

Except its very easy to use and works perfectly? I've used it for several AMVs with no trouble at all. God forbid you avoid all the muxing and indexing for comparable quality
