Vegas rendering codec questions ?

Post by Sajid213 » Sat Jan 14, 2012 11:46 am

I got two questions.

1. I got two lossless codecs - UTVideo and Huffyuv. But which one is better ?
2. There are 4 UTvideo codecs installed (RGB,RGBA,YUV420,YUV422). Whats the difference and which one should I use ?
3. I am using Zarx264 for compressing my videos. What settings should i use ?

Please help. Thanks a lot :)

Step 1: RTFM.
Step 2: There is no step two.

Depends on your needs but for most things, UTVideo is "better" I guess. The different modes are different colourspaces. RGBA has one more channel than RGB so will take up 32bits per pixel compared to 24. This makes it ~30% larger in filesize assuming inefficient compression. YUV420 is standard full-pixel luma with 4-pixel chroma blocks. YUV422 is the same except it has twice as much vertical accuracy on chroma.

Use the "slower" profile, and CRF18. That should be sufficient in Zarx.
