an old problem has re-appeared >_<
I .. I just .. I just can't remember a thing about how this could happen -- which is why it re-appeared:
in the actual video, it is almost black on white making a rainbow of colors - which shouldn't be happening ... and I can't remember what causes this problem!!
can you help .... please ... xvid 1158k single-pass

that's rainbowing. It occurs in areas of high contrast, IIRC it's an encoding artifact.
to get rid of it, I find that Tcomb() works really well. (part of the tivtc package)
I'm probably going to screw up the names, but Scintilla has made a few de-rainbowing filters: DMFDeRainbow and LUTDeRainbow
you can get tcomb() here

. Thank You ^_^
. . I am currently messing with the settings to "just" tone-down the affected are - yeah, I think it has a great deal to do with the Codec; it re-appears after encoding to Xvid sooooo ... lets give H-264 a try again ^_^

. Speed is not an issue for me because different scene's are cut into different encoded rates THEN joined together for the final container.
. . yup, I'm only dealing with one small section here.
