End of Evangelion Help

I've been struggling with this shit for months now. I can't seem to get any kind of good quality off of my End of Evangelion DVD. I've been tinkering around with AVIsynth with it, reading the guides, REreading the guides, trying out different random things, different combinations, etc, and I really for the life of me just cannot get The End of Evangelion to look any kind of decent script wise. I'm trying to get it into the range of quality that DCG did in his End of Eva video, but I'm really just struggling.
If anyone has any scripts for this saved somewhere or something I'd love to take a look at it. And I know its considered somewhat cheap or whatever to use someone elses script, but I'd really just actually like to start WORKING on the video instead of fucking around with the quality all this time trying to get it to look good. I have been trying just about everything in the book, or certainly everything in the guides to get this source to look good, but I'm really struggling here.
Again, any help would be appreciated...

Anyway, that aside I've kinda accepted the fact that I won't get much "here ya go" help on this. So I trashed my old script and started from scratch.
Heres what I have so far:

However this still has quite a few problems that I'm trying to work around, one being these strange dots that seem to be appearing all over the place.

I also get all these little red squares around the edges of most of my red colors, which I kinda labeled ^^; (sorry for the real quick job in Paint)

Anyway any help on this would be awesome! I'll keep up with this topic too, I just really wanna get this to look good.

Iiiit's dot crawl!

I suggest trying either Bifrost or DeDot for the dot crawl; you can find an English translation of the DeDot documentation here: http://www.aquilinestudios.org/scripts/

But there really is no consistently good proven method of removing dot crawl as far as I know. The R2 version is so much nicer it's not funny.

Renewal. It's awesome - although Death(True)² has effed-up border usage, but it's still in a completely different league from the Manga Entertainment R1.

Basically, advantages of the R2:
*No dot crawl
*Anamorphic 16:9
*3:2 pulldown flag - no need for IVTC, just Force Film the sucker
*No jitter (did the movies have jitter, or was that just the TV series?)
*Cleaner video and sharper lines

The only thing that might be noticeable is a little film grain, and if you don't want that, a light deen("w3d",2,8,8) takes care of it.

*cringes* Thats an awfully steep price....but that is the R2 version for sure? *debates buying it*

And if so, is that a good site to buy from? Anyone know any better ones? Cause I really can't stand this R1 shit...I had always kinda hoped there was a nicer version out there. And would this have the english language track on it?

Think of it this way - it's got both movies (although Death is all by itself and End of Eva as a whole is on the other disc). So it really works out to $24 each (USD), not too dissimilar to domestic retail - the price hike is largely in the S&H - the safest and most expensive option will take only a few days to get to you but costs like $18. And yes, it is the R2 for sure - I've got that very version sitting right in front of me on my shelf.

CDJapan, YesAsia, or Amazon.co.jp are probably your best bets to make sure it's legit, and all will probably be fairly similar in price.

No, there is no English track. However, it is possible to manipulate it and smack at least the dub track from the R1 on it and reauthor. Not saying that's easy, as you need to fix some time discrepancies in the English audio track, but it can be done (I made myself a personal copy with the dub track replacing the Japanese ones entirely). I wouldn't even attempt trying to wrestle subs onto it, although that's possible as well - it'd require getting the subs into SRT format via OCR or by outputting as bitmaps and an SRT timing file and typing the script out yourself, correcting time to match the R2, and finally remaking the .sup and applying with SubtitleCreator. The audio switch/add-on requires MuxMan (or IFOEdit) and VobBlanker, and would be best done prior to adding the subs. Guides on the process can typically be found on doom9. The only lossy part of that, by the way, would be in having to manipulate the English audio. There are also ways of editing the menu in English with an image editor and PGCEdit, and that would be lossy as well - this aspect of disc manipulation I've never attempted, although I have done audio-only operations and adding subtitles.

Yea I didn't realize until after I made that post that it contained both Death and Rebirth and End of Eva, although its called something different. So I suppose I don't mind as much. Thank you all for your help, I probably will wind up buying this because of how fed up I am with the R1 release of this...like I said, I've literally been struggling with this shit for months in Avisynth and can't even get close to the quality I want. So glad to see theres another release out thats much better in the encoding department.
Don't really understand why this couldn't be released in the US though : /
The version we've got over here sucks...as far as encoding anyway. That things a disaster.

Sorry for so many posts, I've never bought a Japanese version of a DVD before...

Will I be able to play this on my home DVD player? I have a Mac with a built in DVD drive, will I be able to rip it with that even though its a different region?
