I think the best you're gonna be able to do is throw a variety of smoothers at it (and a sharpener at the end so that you still have lines)

You'll probably want to wait for someone else to say, "yeah, use those filters."

I'd throw fluxsmooth or fluxsmoothST at it (the first is spatial and the second is spatial-temporal,)
removegrain (a few times),
deen (maybe),
and vaguedenoiser

Im satisfied with the quality of my amv,but the only problem i currently have is that its looking a little water-coloury,this happend before and i went threw and kept it like that on a diferent amv,i didnt get many complaints about it,but i still dont want thsi one looking like i added the water-color effect the whole way threw it..does vegas even have that effect?lol,well..w/e,i think its like that in result of the smoothing,but i have some shapening too

Scripts:

Code: Select all

ConverttoYV12()
fielddeinterlace()
mftoon(strength=150)
fluxsmoothST
deen("a3d",4)
SSXSharpen()

try getting rid of ssxsharpen() and just use mftoon or vmtoon (or just use ssxsharpen)
you'll want to move your sharpening filters to be after your smoothing filters.

looks like that setting for Deen could be too high for your source (it looks like your colors are blending a bit.)
you might want to try darkening the lines (without sharpening) before calling deen

Now the quality looks pritty decent except for one major flaw :
Image

Code: Select all

ConverttoYV12()
fielddeinterlace()
deen("w3d",4)
fluxsmoothST
mftoon(strength=150)
FastLineDarken

See how it looks like water color >.<

Its in all threw it,the way i worded that sentence("one major flaw") made it sound like it was only in that frame lol,and i should have circled that ground and multiple other places,but that was an area it really stuck out in my perspective

vmtoon/mftoon, but it also sharpens the image. I know you can specify sharpen=false in vmtoon but I'm not so sure about mftoon

fastlinedarken is another filter that darkens the lines (who'da thunk it)

and you should throw parentheses at the end of fluxsmoothST and fastlinedarken in that script you posted

and you didin't really change anything in deen, (besides the mode, which you will probably have better results with a3d as that mode is specifically made for large areas of flat color)
try going down to 3 or 2 for the radius

remember that because of the very light lines that you want to try darkening the lines before smoothing

Is your virtualdub set to show your video in the same quality/bitdepth as it's actually saved in? If not, change it in the preferences so it is.
