Importing AVI's

Post by dragonsong12 » Wed Aug 27, 2008 9:11 pm

Normally I rip my footage, but lacking DVD's for a certain set of episodes (They aren't out yet) I downloaded some raws. They'll play okay in VLC Media Player, but I can't import them into Premiere...or ANY video editing program for that matter.

The error message I get is "file uses an unsupported compression format."

I know the files are fine, because they'll play. Is there anything I can download to get premiere to recognize them?

Thanks!

I guess since you normally rip DVDs I should be nice.

Downloaded footage will have divX\Xvid compression or somesuch, which can't be read by editors. You'll need to convert it to something Like HuffYUV or lagirith.

Ah! Thanks! I actually think I've got it now!

And I really appreciate the advice in this situation. Rest assured - I SHALL BUY THE DVD'S ONCE THEY RELEASE! Damn impatience...*mutter*
