Is it normal?

Post by Radiant_mt » Sat Dec 19, 2009 2:03 am

Hello,

I have just encoded a 1 hour and 30 min anime movie. And it is over 32 gigs o_0.
It is 720 HD so I'm not really suprised.

I used fast re compressed
And i chose Lagarith codec
And the script Deen("w3d" 3,4,6)

I have a 1.5 Tera Hard drive so im not really worried but I just wonted to see if there are any ways to make it smaller.

Thanks

It's lossless. It's normal. I have a 50+ GB file lags in here... a 50 mins or so thing in 1080p.
It'll get much smaller once you do the lossy encode, but that's not something you should edit with. So yeah, until the final encode, deal with the filesize. Like you said, you have enough space, so it's not an issue.

If he's going to lose detail and then upscale back to 720p later, then that solution makes no sense at all. OTOH if there's no detail to be lost, downscaling and just doing 480p would be a good solution yes, but I'd suggest doing 720x480 and flagging the 16:9 ar while encoding...
