Creating a "film grain" effect in premiere

Post by shosaisyu » Wed May 09, 2007 1:19 pm

I was wondering how this person ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YE_mf0wNsRY ) does the "film grain" effect at the red portion of the videos at 2:46. I'm aware of how to tint it red and whatnot, but what produces the "grainy" film effect lines? Is it a filter of sorts?

You mean

The video was done In After Effects so it probably used Effect -> Noise and Grain

The only thing in Premiere 1.0 and probably on up will be Effect -> Noise -> Median

Take a screen shot of what you mean. That way people can help you easier.

Then it's an After Effects plugin. I can't find one in AE 6.5 that does that, so it might be a 3rd party that ScorpionsUltd might have added. But Again, I think this video was done using AE 7.0 and I don't think Premiere has effects of that caliber.

There is a pack of plug ins from Magic Bullet for AE. You might know the Film Damage filter from DigitalEffects. The difference is that MB took all the little settings and made effects out of ´em. So: You can add only small lines or only the flicker.
