audio editing question w/ Premiere Pro v1.5

Post by sayde » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:02 pm

Is it possible to use Premiere Pro's audio editing tools and effects to remove the BGM of a given song so you hear only the lyrics? I've got a sound rip of an announcer from a fighting game I'd like to use in an upcomming project. But I'm not going to bother if I can't at least soften the background music that accompanies his voice.

I'm not aware of ANYTHING that can do that, unless of course speech is in one channel, left/right, and the music/sound effects in the other. You could also trying phasing frequencies, so that you only get you want, but again, it's probably all mixed so there's only a slim chance your going to get what you want.

You would'nt happen to know the name of the audio effect I'd need to use in order to do this, would you? (As you can see, I haven't any reason up till now to mess with premieres audio effects. So I'm not sure of exactly how to go about phasing the frequencies.

Experiment, low/high band pass, I think EQ will too. Just apply random ones to your audio and see what you get. The only thing I do with Premiere's audio function is use the transition, as I've found it to do a excellent job blending two audio pieces together for when you want to either shorten the song, or join two different pieces.
