Adobe After Effects 7.0

I've just downloaded Adobe After Effects from adobe.com to try, and so far all i installed was Setup.exe, and Adobe After Effects Windows Installer Package. After i installed it, everytime i try to open it, i get an error saying that the program needs to shut down because it encountered a problem. I sent an error report but what's that going to do. Does anyone know what to do about this? Or if i need a specific amount of hard drive space? Or if i need to install something else?

What operating system?
Try reinstalling it.

i tried re-installing it, but i still get the same problem. it just closes on me as soon as i open it. i have a Dell XPS M140 Laptop, running on Windows XP Home Edition.

How much Ram? HDD space left with a reasonable amount? Processor speed?

When un-installing it make sure the after effects folder has been completely deleted and there are no driver remains before reinstalling it. If it is still not working can you see if there is any codecs that attempt or do load when trying to start up after effects? You will either see something flashing irregularly in the task bar or you can observe it in task manager. If there is we'll take it from there. Just to add, can you still download a trial version of 7.0, me thinks I will check it for myself......
