Premiere CS3 uninstall
Ok, whoo.. haven't posted here for years.. I wasn't too sure where to post this topic so I decided to do it here since this is at least the program I'm having issue's with. Mods, if I missed the proper place to post this.. sorry, relocate it by all means.
My problem
I installed Adobe premiere pro CS3 on my computer a while ago, then my brother talked me into letting him edit while I was away. I let him do it only to come home to an non-working Premiere. I would click it and it would never pop up and then I noticed while I was going to reinstall it, that there was like 5 or 6 different system folders in different locations on my computer.
This means that my little bro did something stupid and tried to fix it himself trying to install the program 100 times before I got home and noticed. I went forward and even used Registry editor to delete the program because removing it from the list of installed programs was not working. Now, it's all the same..
I'm left with remnants of adobe premiere all over my comp and have no way of uninstalling adobe bridge CS3 either. When I try to reinstall the setup starts to open but then never really does. So I can't install, I can't remove anything else because there is nothing to remove and I am left with remnants all in my computer.
Does anyone have a solution to this issue? I would love to just be able to continue my projects without having to frag my computer to clean it completely.

Adobe has a clean up utility that might be worth a try.

Thank you sir, I will give it a try but I will be shaking every second because of the disclaimer that says it could erase my whole hard drive. I don't have anything to back up my stuff with and so if I do this and lose everything, I truly "lose everything".
However, that doesn't diminish the gratitude I have for your help! Thank you!

Sorry for the double post.
I did it, I didn't care about backing up my computer but then it said I couldn't do it since Adobe is not installed on my computer.
So what's going on, this is so frustrating. Will I have to just be content with never being able to edit under the Adobe name again? WTF.. I hate all other editors.
Please, I need some help!! Does anyone know how to fix this? My computer doesn't have Adobe installed and it can't be installed because of it's not fully uninstalled from the last time! It's like my brother tangled my computer in one big mess that isn't allowing me to remove, repair or install this program no matter what I do.

Yeah, I did that already. There was a big error and the option to remove the program wasn't there. I had to learn how to go into the system and uninstall the program by hand. If I go to the list now, there isn't any adobe premiere in it and the thing is that there isn't any adobe premiere on my computer either.. (only remnants that I can't get rid of like Adobe Bridge which installs when u install Premiere)
Every time I run the set up for Premiere again, it acts as if my computer already has it installed and it won't run the setup.
This is all so confusing.. lol.
Thanks Kariudo!

I've had problems with the Creative Suite before, both at home and at work, and what usually ends up happening when serious problems arise is that you have to uninstall the entire Suite and then reinstall it. This requires you to use the original CS3 installation discs, because that's where the uninstaller tools for the Suite and its programs are located. I have never been able to uninstall any CS3 programs successfully any other way, and oftentimes you have to take them all off if things are bad enough. If at any point someone tried to uninstall just one part of the Suite without using the disc (nevermind tried to again and again and again) things would get really messed up - and it sounds like they did. At this point you probably can't get Premiere back by continuing to try and uninstall just that one program.
I'm going to assume you actually own CS3 and have all the discs on hand, so my recommendation would be to try and remove the whole Suite that way, then reinstall it. Maybe Adobe has a comparable uninstaller available for download, worth checking, I guess. If you don't have the discs (or you do and uninstalling all of CS3 didn't work) then it's probably time to reformat. You can try system restore first, of course. I don't recommend trying to partition your drive because you're still going to have bits of CS3 all over the place, just waiting to snarl you up again someday.

Wow, so much great advice! thank you guys for everything. I'm in huge trouble because I left my installation CDs in Argentina. For installation on my computer my brother was just using a torrent I made of the program to send to my friend. I just looked for an uninstaller but all I could find was the clean script suggested above. So, I'm going to take a trip back in time.. to around... May. That's when I went to Argentina and let my brother use my computer. I hope I can go back in time the far..
From my experiences with going back in time, stuff like installations stay the same. So this is probably not going to help but it's worth a try. If all fails I will have to frag my chard drive with a reformat. It won't be so bad if I go pick up some blank DVDs and back up my stuff. The only thing I'm sad about is.. will I be able to continue editing my protects? Like if I burned my project files to a disk and perfectly recreated the directories for the media I was using? Cause I was in the middle of like 4 projects and it would suck big time to lose that stuff.
thank you all! you guys are so helpful.. and to think, I avoided signing on to this place because back when I joined people where mean! haha.. I guess things change.
Or maybe they don't and some meanie is waiting for me to let my guard down! lol
Thanks again..

Every time I have had to reformat my hard drive in the middle of an AMV, I've either had to relink all my files by hand, which can take a long, long time, or start over from scratch. This, even after I've put it everything right back exactly where it was before (as far as I'm concerned, anyways, my computer/Premiere obviously thought differently). I even went into the project files once and rewrote part of the directory where it tells Premiere where to find clips, but it still didn't fix the problem. I know other people have reformatted successfully and not lost a thing, though, so you may get lucky as well.zabuza220 wrote:The only thing I'm sad about is.. will I be able to continue editing my protects? It's always been my experience that, after a reformat, nothing's exactly the same as it was and Premiere can't deal with it. So just watch out, is all I'm saying. It sounds like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, anyways, though. Been there a few times myself.
