I think I'm a very simple person with no life.. because this has got to be the most frustration I've felt in my life.

OK, after burning nearly everything I own to DVD I felt good with reformatting. Now I've encountered a new problem. When I go to reformat it says "Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities or other programs that are using this drive, and make sure that no window is displaying the contents of the drive"

I don't have programs running, nothing is running. How can I get passed this problem? I'm sure someone here has successfully formatted there drive so please share the info. I'm really pissed cause I was certain I'd reform tonight and tonight is upon me and now it seems like It wont be happening. I find myself encountering problems left and right.

And nope, I messed up.. I was able to find my installation CD but it still doesn't work so this format has to be done. Even the Adobe staff suggested it..

Please.. Help me... lol.

how are you trying to re-format it?
using the disk manager that's part of the control panel won't work.
Even if you have "no programs running" you have programs running (basically all the stuff Windows needs to run, as well as the things it thinks it needs, and programs that think they need to run)

IIRC you can re-format a disk when you install windows, so try putting the windows cd in your drive at boot time. You'll want to do a clean/full install

The way that I have tried to reformat it is by going to MY COMPUTER and right clicking my drive and selecting "Format". I did put my Windows installation CD in and nothing happened even after a reboot. It's really weird...

Damn.. lol. I'm really confused by all this. Why isn't my CD doing anything???

Damn I hate double posting? Why doesn't this forum have an Edit option? lol

I used the disk manager but it wont allow me to format or "delete partition"??? lol. It only allows me to format my other drive which I don't want to format!

you may have to change the boot order in your bios to make sure that your cd/dvd drive boots before your hard drives

how you enter your bios depends on the machine...but it's usually F2, F8, esc or delete

Ok, I just successfully reformatted my computer! It's currently 4am but I'm still kickin' trying to restore all the stuff I lost. I am happy that my computer is Adobe free and ready to install the program again~! (gluten for punishment!) lol

I am extremely thankful to all of you that took the time to help me.

Ok, this is a bump! lol

Well, now Abode is back and running fine after the reformat but.. now my whole computer is busted. Videos and Audio all play choppy... I mean, I can listen to a song completely but every once in a few it glitches quickly and totally kills the moment. It's just quick little jitters.

I find this weird since I've installed all the same codecs and updates I used to have and before nothing like this happened. Is this all a damaging result of the reformat? I can't even install the AMVapp. It keeps messing up. Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

cause.. I've already started new projects in Adobe and I can't even sample them without having disturbances in my playback.

Thanks~
