Well, if I'm correct a 25/30 mins episode in Huffyuv is around 4GB, so it might be a problem. Not sure if that's the weight, but generally people tend to have an external HDD of about 160GB just for source footage - that's AFAIK.quantbits wrote:heh I reserved 20G just for rendering and storage of stock video, and I have 14 left. should not be a problem =)mirkosp wrote:Convert them to Huffyuv or Lagarith or Uncompressed with VirtualDubMod. That works fine, but it will require HD space.quantbits wrote:thank you for all the replies.
Premier Project opens in AfterEffects, but my raw files are all in xvid, which is incompatible.
could someone suggest a program to convert it to a format AE can wok with?

I'm thanking god I had the foresight to buy a 320 GB drive when I put this computer together, lol. I have a couple minutes of video quickly chopped out of my source and encoded to Lagarith and they are taking about 2 GB right now. (I have a clip that's 3:50 and 1.54 GB, the others are around 100 MB each.)
But, I'd rather sacrifice space, than quality.

Harddrives are getting cheap nowadays anyways. I run with around 1TB on my system - hell a buddy of mine recently bought 1TB of HDDs at best buy on Black Friday for less than $100.

Well, I've got an 80 GB and a 15 GB drive running IDE on here salvaged from the old computer I had before this, and my 320 on SATA, with 4 more SATA slots, but no more drives, or space in the case. Albeit, space means nothing considering I've got the side panel off 24/7. The 320 GB drive cost me about $110CAD, and that was a year or so ago. The entire computer cost about $800, with the RAM being the most costly, at about $160 (1GB, supposed to run in Dual Channel, though I haven't figured out how to get it to work right). It runs quite nicely, especially since I have it OC'd by about 23%, and it still runs within a decent range (Forget the temps though). I just wish I could get a 64 bit OS to go with my AMD Athlon 64...

Cutting the episodes to segments would be fine, just make sure that in the end you have all the footage you need.quantbits wrote:well I'm not going to cut the whole clip.
I'm just going to cut the segment I'm going to use, so it shouldn't be a problem.
Unless I should be converting the whole thing?
