How do I import VOB files into After Effects?

Post by sanguine nightmare » Sun Mar 23, 2008 11:08 pm

Hello everyone. I'm sure this has been asked before, but please bear with me.

I need to know how to import VOB files into After Effects 7 or CS3 on a Windows system. And if it's flat out impossible to import them directly (as some people seem to say) then what is the best way to go about converting them to a usable format while deinterlacing the footage and not losing quality?

Some people have told me to just rename them to mpeg files, but that gives me reduced quality, plus I'm trying to have it deinterlaced when its imported or beforehand, which if you just rename it only makes the interlacing appear worse.

Again, I'm sure this has been answered before, but I'd appreciate any useful advice.

cs3 should be able to handle vobs...but you really should deinterlace/ivtc beforehand

the new eadfag goes over how to make vobs usable (rather, more editing-friendly)

I'd recommend reading the whole thing, but this is where you are in the process

get the amvapp if you haven't already, much easier than hunting down and installing everything separately.
