importing video problem

Post by Q_Slash » Fri May 16, 2008 10:23 pm

I'm importing some video files into Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0 and the importing takes forever.
The files are each about 250mb.
I've canceled the imports before they finished because they took so long. What do I do?

It wouldn't happen to be encoded with XviD/DivX, would it?
... yea ...

I'm not sure. Maybe?
How would I find out and if it is, what do I do about it?

Let me ask it this way, is this a video you downloaded? (Such as a RAW or fansub source.)

If yes, it's probably XviD/DivX or some other distribution codec, and you will have to convert the file to a lossless file type in order to properly edit with it. Do so with VirtualDubMod. It is included in the AMVapp. This guide will teach you all about the AMVapp and the proper method of prepping footage for editing. It's technical, but it's very very worth learning.

Hrm. They import but the picture is only black now, with no sound.

Also, clips that used to work now do not.

I probably screwed up somewhere.
