"Cleaning up" a video with AE

Post by Aneino_Kaijin » Thu Dec 14, 2006 3:03 pm

I've heard/seen a couple people mention cleaning up a video quality-wise in After Effects, but I wasn't sure what it was they were talking about. Can someone enlighten me? (Or point me to the correct thread witha whap on the back of the head for stupidity if there already is one such and I just missed it in my search)

You should check into avisynth. After Effects can't do much for cleaning up video...

That's probably what she was talking about. This is what I get for trying to glean tips from conversations before a con's AMV contest. Thanks!

as far as cleaning up grain, random artifacts, ect, use avisynth as he said.

your friend may have been talking about stamping unwanted items out of the video, or color correction. both which can be done in after effects.

alot of people use avisynth for color correction too. i prefer having more of a visual aid like i would in after effects, premiere, ect.

There is a "Remove grain" filter in the Effects/Noise&Grain. It contains a few options also - temporal filtering , unsharping etc. However I haven't compared the effectivness of this filter with avisynth ones, so I cannot say which one is more effective.
So AE can do some cleaning ;]
