Banners? Not really videos, but ...

Post by jnsparrow » Tue May 08, 2007 7:32 pm

I know this isn't about videos, but there really isn't an appropriate board for my question ... so I figured since Adobe programs are usually the ones used to make fancy images I'd post my question here!

Ok ... so what programs are "best" (coolest aspects, user-friendly, etc.) for making icons/banners. Also, are there any simple programs that can be downloaded for free? Even trials?

I've done some searching on download.com, but I'm kind of stabbing in the dark here!

I really want to make pretty banners!

Thanks everyon!!

Heck, it's not even "simple": it's almost as powerful as Adobe Photoshop. (Plus it can import and export most common formats, including Photoshop's own .PSD format, though full compatibility is not guaranteed.)

I've been using The GIMP as my primary image editor ever since I wasn't able to find my family's Adobe Photoshop 4.5, 5.0 upgrade, and 5.5 upgrade CDs (yes, that was how we did it) when I was building my current computer. It does what I need it to and is pretty friendly, except for the documentation and the fact that the Windows version requires GTK+ for Windows (if you've used XChat or GAIM for Windows, then you know how much fun GTK+ can be).
