Adobe Premiere Vs. Sony Vegas
I'm not very experienced with making AMVs (I've only been doing this for a month). I only had experience with Sony Vegas. But I see Adobe Premiere is around the most popular to use. So, what's the difference between Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere? Which do you perfer? I was considering trying Adobe Premiere, so I wanted to see your input.

Honestly? Well I use both Sony Vegas 7 and Adobe Premier Pro 2.0 and I find Adober Premier rather confusing compared to the ease of Vegas. Yeah Adobe Premier is one of the top editing programs out there but I would take Vegas over Premier any day. But that is just coming from someone who has used Vegas for two years and I am so used to it that a lot of the other programs are alien to me. Hope that helps a little.

I've been using vegas for a long time... I personally prefer vegas over premiere but I've only barely dabbled in premiere a bit..
as far as I'm concerned they are just as powerful as each other... if you know how to use them correctly.
don't mistake this forum for the "popularity of premiere over other programs"
this forum is for help with all adobe products when it comes to editing.. including photoshop, after effects and premiere ..

Honestly, the difference in the actual programs is beside the point. You can pretty much do what you need to do with either program. The only thing that matters when it comes to editing programs (aside from cost obviously) is what you're used to. If you use Vegas for 2 years and you're used to it, why would Premiere be a better option?
Personally I've used Premiere 6.5 for many many years now and it works fine for my needs (when used in combination with Photoshop and After Effects anyway).
I will say that I am considering making the move to Premiere Pro CS3 finally. I do love 6.5, but there are certainly mechanical things that I'd be able to do in Pro much easier than in 6.5.

.. if you ever hear the name AiST and/or Extreme then you have After Effects and a PhotoWorks already built-in to the design; no need to buy anything else because its included .. however, at a fairly steep price !!!AtomX wrote:.. .. whatever program you get used to is the one you'll like the most.

Maybe I'm a bit odd but I actually learned how to use vegas first and just recently started using premiere. I found premiere far easier to learn and far more options for exporting your videos.
The only reason atm that I personally would stick with veges is it's effects but most of the effects weren't that great. Also since I plan on buying After Effects soon there's no need for vegas for me anymore.

Premiere Pro is like a landmind-filled field of confusion to a beginning editor, i would much rather reccomend Premiere 6.5. for the beginning editor (if not Vegas, that is).The Origonal Head Hunter wrote:if you don't want (m)any fancy effects and just simple editting, I'd go with Premiere Pro 2.0 or CS3.
