(Sure this has been asked before) MKV in premiere 2.0

How do i make premiere read mkv files? I'm willing to bet someone has asked this before, but i cant find any answers. Some sites say to use Avisynth to make .avs files, but that doesnt read on premiere either....

Sorry for the doublepost, but i almost got it working when i fixed the installation folder of avisynth, so that the program recognizes the avs, but now something different happens. It starts to import, but then im hit with some sort of "assertion error" popup and the whole program crashes.

did you get the Premiere avisynth plug-in from AMVApp? Might be that you don't have it.

No, I have it. I had to get it installed correctly, which has taken me from the "file type not valid" to this bizarre "assertion error" problem that happens during the importing.
