After Effects CS3 Price Check

Post by TheGreatFox2000 » Thu Mar 27, 2008 3:34 pm

So I've decided to be a good person for once in my life and buy a program instead of pirating it, but I fell out of my chair when I saw:

Adobe After Effects CS3:
Buy US: $999

OR

Adobe Creative Suite Package:
Buy US: $1,799

So yeah. That's expensive. Not really surprising I guess, but still up there in price.

SO WITH THAT IN MIND: Is there a way to get this program any cheaper (I iz cawledge stoodent so mebbe campus IT has it cheap, idk I haven't checked yet)? Or should I find a 'friend' who has it and 'borrow' his computer to make my stuffs?

Any advice on this matter would be appreciated, I mean if I have to I'll spend the grand, but I'd REALLY like to avoid four digits if possible.

Is this just because it's cheaper, or is there a technical reason to not get CS3? $600 is actually doable for me.

I don't think CS3 added a ton of major new features. There was some nice stuff, sure, not nothing really really major. If you can get a significant savings by going with CS2, I'd say hit it.
