i saved it and now it says its not a valid movie maker file!

the file may be corrupt, you might have to completely restart it :[

Hmm.. Don't know if that makes any difference,but... Are you trying to open it trough : File-->Open... or just throw in project file itself?

Maybe try reinstalling WMM? (if that's possible o.O)

its a file type specifically for WMM i dont know of any other programs that would open it

directshowsource --> virtualdub ? (i'm guessing btw)

so you can't open your project and just re-export as a DV_AVI or highest quality setting? and try and import that?
